Editor's Take

You know that feeling when you sit in a really good chair? Like, genuinely good-not just expensive, but actually designed for humans? That's basically Humanscale's whole thing, and honestly, they've been nailing it since 1983.

Here's what's kind of fascinating about them: they don't make chairs with a million knobs and levers. Instead, they use physics. Seriously. Their ergonomic chairs are designed to use the sitter's own body weight and the laws of physics to encourage movement and provide unparalleled comfort. It's like they figured out that your body already knows how to move-it just needs furniture that works with it, not against it.

The Freedom Chair is probably their most famous piece, and for good reason. Introduced 25 years ago, this revolutionary ergonomic seat, designed by the late Niels Diffrient, set a new standard in office seating and continues to influence the industry today. But they're not just about seating. They make sit-stand desks, monitor arms, task lighting-basically everything you need to not hate your workspace.

What really sets them apart is their sustainability game. Humanscale is proud to announce it is now a certified B Corporation, reinforcing our longstanding leadership in sustainability. As the only major brand in the commercial furniture industry to earn B Corp certification, they're not just talking about being green-they're actually doing it. Over 70% of their products are currently certified as having a Net Positive impact on the environment.

And here's something cool: their stuff shows up in movies and TV shows all the time. The company has locations in about 30 countries and has even gained attention from Hollywood, with products gracing the sets of hit television shows and films including The Newsroom, New Girl, 24, The Bourne Ultimatum, Mission: Impossible III. So yeah, when you see a sleek office chair in a blockbuster, there's a decent chance it's a Humanscale.

They're not cheap-let's be real about that. But if you're spending eight hours a day at a desk, it's kind of like investing in really good shoes. Your back will thank you later.
