Are there any items that are non-returnable?

Editor's Take

You know that feeling when you walk into IKEA and suddenly three hours have vanished? That's not an accident-it's brilliant design psychology at work. IKEA isn't just selling furniture; they're selling a lifestyle wrapped in Swedish minimalism and surprisingly affordable price tags.

Founded in 1943 by 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA has grown from a mail-order business in rural Sweden to a global empire with 483 stores across 63 countries. But here's what's fascinating: despite generating €45.1 billion in sales annually, they've maintained that scrappy, democratic approach to design. Their mission? Make good design accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy.

The genius lies in their flat-pack revolution. By designing furniture that ships efficiently and assembles at home, they've slashed costs while creating an oddly satisfying ritual. Sure, you might curse those wordless instruction manuals, but there's something deeply rewarding about transforming a pile of boards into a functional bookshelf. It's DIY therapy disguised as furniture shopping.

And let's talk about those product names-BILLY, KALLAX, HEMNES. Each one tells a story, named after Swedish places, people, or nature. There are over 140 million BILLY bookcases in the world. That's one for every 100 people on Earth. Talk about democratic design in action.

What really sets IKEA apart is their understanding of modern life. Small spaces, tight budgets, frequent moves-they get it. Their solutions aren't just functional; they're adaptable. That KALLAX shelf system? It's basically adult Lego for your living space.

The company's commitment to sustainability is equally impressive, with ambitious goals to become fully circular by 2030. They're not just selling furniture; they're reimagining how we consume and dispose of home goods.
