Lucas Oil Stadium welcomes Marching Music’s Major League™ through Saturday as the world's most elite student musicians (ages 13-22) compete. In addition to prelim, semifinal, and final shows on the field, spectators can enjoy Friday's free Shining a Light on Music Education program on Monument Circle. Ensembles will perform, food trucks will serve, and the evening concludes with the nightly Shining a Light show. Saturday's events include the SoundsSport International Music & Food Festival just outside the stadium. This free event is a family-friendly street festival with live music, a drum battle, food trucks, and more. Stadium event tickets are $47 and up, but Indiana residents can access special $25 tickets at this link. Plus, two kids under 12 get in free with each paid adult. | |

Friday will bring a new energy to Broad Ripple Park with the debut of a new music series. California alternative rockers Toad the Wet Sprocket are headlining the Good Intentions Tour with support from The Jayhawks and Sixpence None the Richer. Toad's signature style combines introspective lyrics with melodic, folk-influenced rock and has made them favorites since their debut in the '90s. One of the most popular outdoor music venues turns up the vibes Friday as Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) takes the stage at Conner Prairie. DSO has been re-creating Grateful Dead concert experiences for more than 25 years, and this show will be a complete set from one of the Dead's shows at Deer Creek. Gather your scarlet begonias and sugar magnolias for a night of playing in the band on shakedown street. Even if you show up with the Cumberland blues, you’ll be sure to walk out in the morning dew.
