Editor's Take
Here's the thing about Joanna Czech-she's basically the skincare whisperer that A-listers can't stop talking about. And honestly? After digging into her story, it's not hard to see why.
With over 39 years of experience, beginning in Poland, and built in NY, Czech didn't just stumble into the beauty world. She earned her stripes the hard way, starting as a nail tech at Paul Labrecque salon in the '90s just to get a free gym membership. But here's where it gets interesting-compared to the U.S., where estheticians can obtain a license after as few as 600 training hours, Poland's standards are considerably more rigorous and scientific. In fact, Joanna received significantly more training - literally years longer than her American counterparts.
That European foundation shows. LED, Ultrasound, Microcurrents, Cryotherapy, Manual Massage and Manipulation of the Facial Muscles are incorporated into her customized treatments that are based on the condition of the skin, rather than a type. Notice how she doesn't do cookie-cutter facials? Every treatment is completely personalized, which explains why she counts Cate Blanchett, Christy Turlington, and Bella Hadid (among others) as clients.
The business side is equally impressive. She opened her flagship studio in Dallas in 2015, expanded with her New York City Studio in 2018, followed by her new Los Angeles studio in 2024. And she's not just doing facials-most recently, Joanna launched her eponymous skincare with THE KIT, a collection of 7 skincare essentials that's become a cult favorite.
What really sets Czech apart is her philosophy. She believes in a long-term approach that incorporates seasonal regimens and self-care rather than short-term quick fixes. In an industry obsessed with instant results, that's refreshingly honest. Plus, she doesn't believe in one skincare line, even though she has her own, and teaches clients that their skincare routine starts at night when skin has at least 40 to 50% more ability to absorb everything.
The woman's basically built an empire on the simple idea that good skin takes time, expertise, and the right approach. And with annual revenue reaching $1.8M as of July 2024, it seems like people are more than willing to invest in that philosophy.
