About Donald Glaude:
Legendary house music pioneer. Dancefloor detonator. Sonic lifer. Donald Glaude doesn’t just play records, he transports rooms. If you caught his last set at Joshua Tree Music Festival, you already know: time bent, bodies lifted, and the floor became something sacred.
Classically trained on upright bass and violin, Glaude’s musical roots run deep. After discovering early funk as a kid, he began splicing sound at home in Tacoma with tape decks and a scrappy Radio Shack mixer, laying the groundwork for a lifelong devotion to groove. By the mid-’80s, he was already shaping the future, cutting his teeth in Northwest clubs before becoming a defining force of the West Coast rave and house explosion of the ’90s.
From legendary residencies at Seattle’s Underground to warehouse throwdowns and seminal club nights that introduced now-iconic DJs to U.S. audiences, Glaude helped write the DNA of West Coast house, alongside fellow architects DJ Dan and Ron D Core. This isn’t nostalgia. It’s lineage.
