Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Kyte Baby-they've basically turned bamboo into baby clothing gold, and honestly? It's kind of brilliant. It all started when founder Ying's youngest daughter couldn't sleep due to chronic eczema. Ying became a woman on a mission to alleviate her daughter's discomfort. What she didn't expect was to find the answer in a breathable, sustainable fabric softer than baby-fresh skin: Bamboo.

And that origin story isn't just marketing fluff-it's the real deal. Bamboo is breathable and 3º cooler than its cotton counterpart. No more night sweats or tossing and turning from overheating. You and your babies will sleep better in bamboo. Which, let's be honest, is exactly what every sleep-deprived parent desperately needs.

But here's where it gets interesting. It started with the Sleep Bag: A wearable blanket made to help babies fall asleep (and stay asleep) comfortably and safely-because, let's be honest, nobody wants to sleep without a blanket, babies included. Thanks to the comforting effects of bamboo (and years of product research and development), our sleep bags were just the beginning of better sleep for the whole family.

The company's grown from that single mom's mission into something pretty substantial. With nearly 1 million followers across social media platforms, our products are loved by parents everywhere and sold through top retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Target, and numerous specialty boutiques in North America and the UK. That's not small-time anymore.

What really sets them apart is the sustainability angle. Unlike cotton, bamboo is a sustainable resource. It uses 30% less water, consumes 45% more carbon dioxide, generates 35% more oxygen, and uses no pesticides. So you're not just buying softer pajamas-you're making a choice that's better for the planet.

The product line has expanded way beyond those original sleep bags. Sleep Bags, Baby Sleepwear, Bundlers & Knotted Gowns, Footies, Rompers, Daywear, Bodysuits & Tops, Bottoms, One Pieces & Rompers, Matching Sets, Accessories, Bibs, Headwear, Mittens & Socks-basically everything your little one needs, all in that signature bamboo fabric.

Now, I'd be remiss not to mention the elephant in the room. Early 2024 brought some serious controversy when the woman at the heart of the Kyte Baby controversy spoke out after being fired from the popular babywear company while her newborn son was in the NICU. Her firing went viral after Kyte Baby founder Ying Liu posted two apology videos on TikTok, saying she made a "terrible mistake" in how she treated the new mom. It was a PR nightmare that had parents boycotting left and right.

But here's the thing-companies stumble, and how they handle it matters. We are excited to share our updated parental leave policy. We understand the importance of family and recognize parents' vital role in nurturing and supporting their families. With this updated policy, we aim to foster a culture of support and inclusivity while ensuring that all employees have the opportunity to be present during important moments in their lives.

The bottom line? Kyte Baby makes genuinely good products that solve real problems for parents. We're parents too, so we're obsessed with sleep, safety and comfort. Our products are informed by the latest sleep safety research and continuously improved by your feedback. And honestly? When you're dealing with a baby who won't sleep, that bamboo fabric might just be the game-changer you didn't know you needed.
