"Recovecos" - Walt Disney Disney Concert Hall (Nov. 11)
Part of the Green Umbrella new music series, Recovecos puts the spotlight on Latin American and Caribbean composers with a program that includes the Walt Disney Concert Hall debut of Raquel Acevedo Klein, who will conduct a world premiere arrangement of Volver, Volver from Darian Donovan Thomas.

"Newsies" - Academy Museum (Nov. 15)
Inspired by actual events, the New York–set Newsies refashions the eight-month newsboys’ strike of 1899 as a rollicking musical. Featuring early performances from teenaged Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) and David Moscow (Big), choreography designed in part by the film’s director, Kenny Ortega, and original tunes by Alan Menken—celebrated for his collaboration with lyricist Howard Ashman on animated Disney films—Newsies has been embraced in revival screenings and is now considered a cult classic.

Bardo - The Echo (Nov. 14)
Best known for fronting Chicano Batman, Bardo dropped his most recent solo album, the funk and disco-centric Transformation Time, back in August. He’ll headline The Echo on Friday, November 14 with support from Michael Seyer and Pink Lemon.

"Jaja’s African Hair Braiding" - Mark Taper Forum (Nov. 4-9)
Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, the Tony-winning comedy set in a Harlem salon, comes to Los Angeles for a month-long run at Mark Taper Forum. The play, written by Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Whitney White, features evening and matinee performances through November 9.
