Returns
What is the return window?
You must return or exchange any eligible item within fourteen (14) calendar days of the delivery date. Exchanges and returns are available for eligible items in their original, unworn condition within 14 days of delivery.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Gift Cards and Mia Bags are final sale and are not eligible for return. Items marked as Final Sale cannot be returned. Sale items are returnable for store credit only, unless they fall under the small number of heavily discounted items marked Final Sale.
How will I receive my refund?
We offer two refund options for returns on eligible items: Free return for store credit via an M.Gemi gift card. Return for a refund to your original payment method, with an $8 fee deducted to cover the costs of restocking and shipping. After your item is received and inspected, your refund will be processed and a credit will be automatically applied to your credit card or original method of payment. Depending on your credit card company, it may take an additional 2-10 business days after your credit is applied to post to your account.
Who pays for return shipping?
We are happy to offer free exchanges for eligible items. For returns, customers can choose free return shipping for store credit, or pay an $8 fee for refund to original payment method.
What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
Return items must be in their original condition, unused, unwashed, unaltered and undamaged. If, upon inspection, we deem your return item to be used, altered or otherwise damaged, it may be ineligible for refund. If you have any questions about the condition of any item you are considering returning, please contact Customer Service at [email protected] or 844-574-GEMI (4364).
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about M.Gemi-it's basically what happens when old-world Italian craftsmanship meets Silicon Valley efficiency, and somehow, it actually works.
The brand was born from Maria Gangemi's childhood in Sicily, where she'd watch local artisans hand-stitch shoes in tiny workshops, just a few pairs at a time. That kind of thing was fading away, and she wanted to save it. But here's where it gets interesting: instead of opening another boutique, she partnered with tech entrepreneurs and built something completely different.
M.Gemi works directly with family-owned factories scattered across Italy-Tuscany, Naples, Abruzzo, you name it. These are the same workshops making shoes for luxury brands you'd recognize, except M.Gemi cuts out all the middlemen and sells straight to you online. Which is why you can get genuinely handcrafted Italian leather shoes for under $200 instead of $600.
And they're not messing around with the "handmade" claim. Every single pair is Blake-stitched by actual artisans using techniques passed down through generations. The leathers are sourced locally throughout Italy. There are real families behind these shoes-fathers and sons, sisters and brothers-keeping centuries-old traditions alive.
But what really sets them apart is this: they release new styles every week in small batches. Limited quantities, limited time. It's kind of genius, actually. No massive inventory sitting in warehouses. No excess materials ending up in landfills. Just fresh designs constantly rotating through. Customers have learned to grab what they want fast because it might not be there next week.
The company launched in 2015 and has offices in Boston, New York, and Florence. They've raised serious venture capital-around $58 million-which tells you investors believe in this model. And the model is working. Their Felize loafer has basically achieved cult status. People rave about the comfort, the quality, the fact that these shoes don't need a break-in period.
Notice how they're not trying to be everything to everyone? They focus on shoes (and now some handbags and belts), they focus on Italian craftsmanship, and they focus on that direct-to-consumer relationship. No department store markups. No wholesale distribution. Just them and you.
The sustainability angle is real, too. Small-batch production means less waste. Local sourcing means shorter supply chains. And because the quality is there, these aren't shoes you'll toss after a season. They've even partnered with causes like the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation, using their platform for something beyond just selling shoes.
Sure, there are trade-offs. Blake stitching means you'll need a specialist cobbler for repairs-not every corner shop can handle it. And if you're the type who needs to try on twelve pairs before deciding, the online-only model might feel limiting. But they've thought about that: free shipping for rewards members, 14-day returns, and detailed fit information for every style.
What's kind of refreshing is how they've managed to stay premium without being pretentious. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for genuine Italian craftsmanship. The customer service is actually responsive. And they're not afraid to be transparent about their process-they'll tell you exactly which artisan made your shoes and where.
In a world drowning in fast fashion and disposable everything, M.Gemi feels like a quiet rebellion. They're proving you can honor tradition, embrace technology, keep prices fair, and still build something that matters. Not bad for a company that started with a girl in Sicily who just really loved watching shoemakers work.
