Editor's Take
You know what's refreshing in the skincare world? A brand that doesn't try to sell you seventeen different products for your "morning routine." Maelove was founded by husband-and-wife team Brad Yim and Jackie Kim, with Kim being a former attorney and startup investor who felt overwhelmed by the skincare market's complexity. Their whole thing is basically "luxury skincare without the luxury markup"-and honestly, they deliver on that promise.
The brand specializes in creating highly effective, science-backed skincare products using the best active ingredients at an affordable price. What sets them apart isn't just the price point (though most products are under $30). They work with researchers, cosmetic chemists, cancer and brain researchers, chemical engineers, and medical doctors to evaluate ingredients. That's not your typical "clean beauty" marketing speak-that's actual scientific rigor.
Their flagship product, the Glow Maker Vitamin C serum, has become something of a cult favorite. Allure even wrote an article comparing it to SkinCeuticals' C E Ferulic for a fraction of the price. And here's the thing-it's not just hype. The product has 4.6/5 stars from 296 ratings on Amazon, and nearly all their skincare products are rated 5/5 stars on their website.
But what really gets me is their approach to customer service. Customers rave about detailed updates on backorders, including information about packaging, production, and shipping. They offer a 100-day money-back guarantee with free returns, which is basically unheard of in skincare. Most brands give you 30 days if you're lucky.
The formulations are clean without being preachy about it. Products are free of parabens, phthalates, triclosan, artificial dyes and fragrances, and they don't use ingredients banned in the EU or USA. Everything is cruelty-free, vegan, made in the USA, and manufactured in cGMP-certified, FDA-registered labs.
So yeah, if you're tired of paying $150 for a serum that does the same thing as a $28 one, Maelove might just be your new best friend.
