Returns

What is the return window?
MaxTool's return policy gives you 45 days from the day you receive your purchase, to either exchange, receive store credit, or get a refund.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) may be obtained by calling Customer Service at 1-800-629-3325, or by emailing [email protected] with your order information. This suggests you need order information rather than a physical receipt.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Power Equipment products that use gas and oil are not eligible for return once they have been oiled or gassed, as they cannot be shipped by law, with no exceptions to this rule. Any food or food-related product cannot be returned for health, safety, and sanitary reasons.

How will I receive my refund?
Once returned in resalable condition, MaxTool can issue a full store credit or issue a refund for 80% of the purchase price after shipping.

What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
If your item was received damaged or defective, MaxTool will either fix the product or exchange for a replacement.

Editor's Take

MaxTool isn't your typical tool retailer-and that's exactly what makes it interesting. Founded in 1984 in Southern California as a small catalog company providing high quality shop tools and equipment, they've quietly built something pretty impressive over the past four decades.

Here's what caught my attention: they operate from a 100,000 sq. ft. warehouse about 50 miles east of Los Angeles and a massive 300,000 sq. ft. facility in Memphis. That's serious distribution muscle for a company that started with catalogs. And they're not just throwing tools in boxes-all orders placed before 2 pm local time ship same day from one of their two strategically placed distribution centers.

But here's where MaxTool gets really interesting. They carry all the major brands including DeWALT, PorterCable, Makita, IngersollRand, Kreg, Garden Radience, CP, and more, offering cordless tools, impact wrenches, shop equipment, popcorn machines, woodworking tools and so much more. Wait-popcorn machines? That's not your standard tool catalog item.

The numbers tell a story too. MaxTool generates $34.5 million in revenue with 41 employees, which suggests they've figured out how to run lean while scaling big. Their Instagram account (@shopmaxtool) has 186K followers, indicating they've built a genuine community around their brand.

What really sets them apart is their approach to customer service. They've been serving customers with high quality tools and equipment for over 37 years, partnering directly with all the top brands to provide the most up-to-date product information and support in the industry, with a large staff of highly trained professionals to help customers make the right choice.

The company operates under multiple names-you might also see them as Factory Authorized Outlet or Generator Factory Outlet-but it's all the same operation. They're proud to be an authorized retailer for all the brands they carry, ensuring all products come with full manufacturer's warranty.

So while MaxTool might not be a household name like Home Depot, they've carved out something valuable: a direct-to-consumer operation that combines serious distribution capabilities with genuine expertise. For professionals and serious DIYers who know what they want, that's exactly the kind of company worth knowing about.
