The Englert + Track Zero Present

Night Moves

with Sam Blasucci + dearborn

Live @ Gabe's

Wednesday, October 15th, Doors @ 7 PM, Music @ 8 PM

Night Moves is making a stop at Gabe's on their upcoming tour to promote Double Life following a stellar performance in 2022. The anticipated fourth studio album from the Minneapolis alt rockers won't be the only new music hitting Gabe's. Joining them on the lineup will be Sam Blasucci and dearborn. Is it a coincidence all of these bands released albums in June of this year or just our lucky day?

On Night Moves album Double Life: "With songs no longer than 4:25 the eleven tracks on Double Life are short, sharp and punchy. It moves like a breeze... a feel of cosmic twang rock is created by form of escapism, sludgy disco at its most engaging. It’s an album that’s stronger than its nostalgic outlook – countrified rock that has shades of Neil Young at times, too – and even Mercury Rev. Influences everywhere yet its own beating voice is a solid one that makes the band one to watch" (When the Horn Blows).

Sam Blasucci will be celebrating his new release All Blue, while maintainig the highest regard for live music, "To me, live performance is the reason for making music. It’s the best way for me to tap into something deep in myself with those that have come out to do the same," (The Bluegrass Situation).

On dearborn's release of Memo For a Friend, Elisabeth Oster describes: "The entirety of Dearborn fires on all cylinders: Elijah Mickey carries a unique vocal tone, switching in an instant from acoustic demo to echoey distortion; lead guitarist Jonah Marcussen and bassist Elias Smith layer thick sound collages of throwback grunge, and drummer Aaron Knight propels each track to full euphoric heights with dual tenderness and explosive force. The resulting musician collision is a confident, hauntingly vibey first EP effort from the new Iowa City four-piece," (Little Village).

The Englert Presents

Jonathan Richman

Live @ The Englert

Friday, November 17th @ 7:30 PM

Touted by some as the Godfather of Punk, Jonathan Richman has long been considered a founding voice in the sound of modern rock.

Recent coverage of a live show describes Richman: "There are few artists that still perform today who truly represent the early art-punk scene in New York and Boston. We lost Lou Reed in 2013, David Bowie in 2016, and Tom Verlaine... Richman pays homage to these legends that showed him the door to bohemia every time he gets on stage through his unique and animated telling of life’s absurdities. Jonathan Richman is an artist who stands firm in his artistry and writing prose. Seeing him sing and jive on stage was simply captivating for those present." (WCBN News)

Richman's newest release, Only Frozen Sky Anyway, received a 7.8 from Pitchfork noting, "Richman hasn’t changed his style, but rather uncovered unexpected emotional dimensions within himself,"(Pitchfork).

Jonathan Richman will be joined on stage at the Englert by Tommy Larkins on the drums. Richman and Larkins, both members of Modern Lovers, create a thoughtful and vulnerable live performance. A must see experience for punk rockers past, present, and future.
