Truthsgiving

Friday, November 15 @ 7:00pm

Great Plains Action Society’s 9th annual Truthsgiving celebration will be on stage at The Englert this year with Audiopharmacy and guest speakers V Fixmer-Oraiz – Johnson County Supervisor, Alejandra Escobar – Escucha Mi Voz, Joe Maxwell – U of I Native American Student Association  & The Iowa City Free Fridge Organizers. The event will be hosted by Jessica Engelking, Marie Krebs, and Dave Whiting. Truthsgiving is a celebration that rejects the colonial myth behind Thanksgiving that perpetuates dangerous stereotypes and whitewashed history. It is a time to hear truth from speakers about current issues and celebrate truth with music, song, and dance.

Iowa City World City Presents
Sam Ham Benefit Show

featuring Pink Fuzz, Bootcamp, HVOG, angle grinder, Justin K Comer, and Chunks

Monday, October 13 @ 5:30pm

This is a benefit show for community leader and Englert stagehand Sam Hammond, who is recovering from the West Nile Virus. If you can't make it, consider contributing to the GoFundMe linked below. This show features Denver based Pink Fuzz (High Speed Desert Rock) headlining the night. Your favorite Iowa City hotties, Bootcamp (hardcore punk), will be leading the ass shaking charge along with HVOG (who doesn't love Sarahann Kolder???), anglegrinder (harsh noise electronics), Justin K Comer (saxophonist, improviser, composer, nice guy), and Chunks (new Iowa City capital H Hardcore *first show alert*).

Englert Presents: Track Zero
Night Moves

Come experience The Englert's concert series for new music, Track Zero! Night Moves is a Minneapolis indie rock band who just released their album Double Life. Their Iowa City date marks the first concert on this leg of the tour promoting the album, joined by Mapache's Sam Blasucci and Iowa City band Dearborn. Track Zero aims to curate a night of eye-opening music, and Wednesday will be no different. Come out to Gabe's and dance with us!

Jonathan Richman

The Englert Songwriter Series returns with Jonathan Richman, the bilingual songwriting powerhouse. He released his newest album Only Frozen Sky Anyway this summer, and is taking his act with collaborator Tommy Larkins to The Englert. Some songs are in English, others in Spanish, and all will leave audiences with lasting memories.
