Returns

What is the return window?
All sales are final seven (7) days after the date of purchase (the "Refund Period"). In other words, as of the 8th day following the date of purchase, the Company will not provide refunds or accept cancellations.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
The following Standard Fees are non-refundable: Shipping and/or Handling, Application, Administration, Test Extension, Late Cancellation, Retest, Workshop Transfer, Program Extension, Petition, Recertification, and Recertification Late Fees. Refunds are not available for Subscriptions. Accordingly, the Refund Policy set forth in Section 5.3 is not applicable.

How will I receive my refund?
Refunds are available only for the Product Price, and then only for the portion of the Product Price that has been paid to NASM/AFAA at the time of the refund request. In other words, if you are making installment payments and you timely seek a refund, the maximum refund would be the amount you had paid to date (excluding any amount paid for Standard Fees), minus the 10% administration fee applied to all refunds.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Refunds are not available for individual items within a Product Package. If an item within a Product Package is defective, you can request an exchange of that item by contacting the Member Services department within the Return Period.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about NASM-they're basically the gold standard when it comes to personal trainer certifications, and there's a reason for that. Since 1987, the National Academy of Sports Medicine has been a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications and advanced specializations to health and fitness professionals. But what really sets them apart isn't just their longevity.

It's their obsession with science. NASM courses were developed using their proprietary Optimum Performance Training™ (OPT™) model, a system based on scientific, evidence-based research. And honestly? That matters more than you might think. While other certification programs might feel like they're just checking boxes, NASM actually teaches you how to assess movement patterns, identify imbalances, and create programs that work.

Over the years, NASM has expanded its certification offerings and has certified over 1.4 million individuals globally. That's not just impressive-it's a testament to how seriously the fitness industry takes their credentials. Walk into any major gym chain, and chances are good that their trainers either have NASM certifications or the gym specifically looks for them when hiring.

What's particularly smart about their approach is how they've built out specializations. You can start with their flagship CPT certification, then branch into corrective exercise, performance enhancement, or nutrition coaching. The organization is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), ensuring that its certification processes meet high standards of fairness, validity, and reliability. That NCCA accreditation? It's basically the fitness industry's way of saying "this certification actually means something."

And they've kept up with the times too. NASM One, an innovative membership program designed to help fitness professionals elevate their career through exclusive discounts, education resources, and networking opportunities. More than a subscription, NASM One is intended for aspiring and established fitness professionals alike. It's like they understand that getting certified is just the beginning-you need ongoing education and community to really thrive in this field.
