Editor's Take
So here's the thing about underwear-most of us don't think about it until something goes wrong. A strap digs in. A seam shows through. You're adjusting all day like some kind of fidgety mess. And then you stumble across a brand like Negative, and suddenly you're like, wait, has underwear been terrible this whole time?
Founded back in 2014 by best friends Marissa Vosper and Lauren Schwab, Negative started because these two were fed up with an industry that felt overdesigned, underwhelming and out of touch. What began as a hunt for better basics has evolved into a lifestyle brand built on elevated essentials-uncompromising comfort, thoughtful design, and that whole less-is-more philosophy.
But here's what makes them different. They focus on the essentials and ditch the rest-you won't find unnecessary bows, padding or adornments. Their minimalist approach emphasizes comfort, quality and function first. It's kind of radical when you think about it. Most lingerie brands are either trying to make you feel like a Victoria's Secret angel or your grandmother. Negative just wants you to feel like yourself, but better.
They source the finest fabrics in the world from Europe's longest standing experts in lingerie. The result? Intimates that feel as good as they look, and last longer too. And people notice. The brand has this cult following-the kind where customers write reviews saying they never want to take the stuff off. That's not marketing speak. That's just what happens when you nail the fundamentals.
The collections are pretty straightforward. There's the Whipped line, which is basically their softest, cloudlike fabric designed for sleeping and lounging. Free shipping kicks in on all orders over $100. They've got bras (both wired and wireless), underwear in every cut you can imagine, and loungewear that doesn't look like you've given up on life.
Price-wise, they're not cheap. Bras run around $65-$85, underwear $28-$40. But when you consider they're sourcing from the same European mills as luxury brands and selling direct-to-consumer, it starts making sense. Plus, all full-priced items are eligible for return within 30 days of the original purchase date. They offer free exchanges and returns for store credit, though there's a $5 restocking fee if you want a refund to your original payment method.
What's interesting is how they've stayed true to their original vision. The whole collection is neutrals-no hot pink, no leopard print, just colors you'd actually wear every day. It's underwear for people who think about design but don't want to think about their underwear, if that makes sense.
