Returns

What is the return window?
Old Navy provides a 30 days period to return the items online and in-store. Customers have 30 days from the purchase date (for in-store purchases) or 30 days from the delivery date (for online orders) to make a return. However, in 2025, Old Navy updated its return policy. Now, kids' clothing can be returned up to 365 days from purchase.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
Old Navy requires proof of purchase for all returns and exchanges. You need your original paper receipt or the emailed shipping confirmation (if you ordered online). Old Navy will not look up your purchase with your phone number or payment card.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Face masks are not eligible for returns or exchanges. Final sale items (including masks and some clearance) cannot be returned. Swimwear: Must have original price tags and hygienic liner intact; returnable by mail only.

How will I receive my refund?
Refunds will be applied to the original payment method. The refund is generally made in the original payment method. It might take ten business days for the refund to be issued to your credit card. Refunds to credit cards can take up to 10 business days to reflect on your statement.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
You can return an item purchased online at an Old Navy store, but you can't mail back something you bought in-store. You can return items by mail or at any Old Navy store.

Editor's Take

Old Navy isn't just another clothing store-it's basically the retail equivalent of that friend who always knows where to find the good stuff without breaking the bank. And honestly? They've been nailing this whole "fashion for everyone" thing since way before it was trendy to talk about inclusivity.

Here's what's kind of brilliant about Old Navy: they figured out early on that most people don't want to choose between looking good and paying rent. Old Navy provides the latest fashions at great prices for the whole family. Shop men's, women's, women's plus, kids', baby and maternity wear. That's not marketing speak-that's literally what they do, and they've been doing it consistently for over 30 years.

The numbers tell the story pretty well. By 2015, Old Navy's yearly sales had reached $6 billion per year in the United States, almost equaling those of Gap Inc.'s Gap and Banana Republic divisions combined. That's not an accident. When you can walk into any of their 1,000+ stores and find jeans that actually fit for under $30, or grab a decent dress for a work event without having to eat ramen for a week, people notice.

But here's where it gets interesting - Old Navy has always been weirdly ahead of the curve on things that matter. We also offer big and tall sizes for adults and extended sizes for kids. They were doing extended sizing before other retailers even admitted it was a problem. And their kids' section? It's designed by people who clearly understand that children are tiny chaos agents who need clothes that can survive playground battles.

The company culture is another thing entirely. Old Navy celebrates a workplace that's just as diverse as our customers. Fun, fashion, family and value are at the heart of everything we do. We cultivate a community of playful personalities that thrive in a fast-paced environment where our employees can be their most authentic selves. You can actually feel this when you shop there-the staff generally seems like they don't hate their jobs, which is rarer than it should be in retail.

And let's talk about their return policy for a second, because it's actually pretty reasonable. In 2025, Old Navy updated its return policy. Now, kids' clothing can be returned up to 365 days from purchase. A full year to return kids' clothes? That's the kind of policy that shows they understand real life-kids grow, seasons change, and sometimes you buy something in January that doesn't work by March.

The brand has this interesting position in the fashion ecosystem where they're not trying to be high-end, but they're also not racing to the bottom on quality. They've found this sweet spot where you can buy basics that last more than a few washes, but you're not paying premium prices for the privilege. It's fashion democracy in action, really.
