2026 Youth Talent Competition Applications Are Now Open! Old Settler’s Music Festival April 17–19, 2026 Camp Ben McCulloch Just outside of Austin in Driftwood, Texas Old Settler’s Music Festival is proud to continue its tradition of nurturing the future of American roots music by inviting musicians ages 18 and under to apply for the 2026 competition. Supporting young musicians is a key part of our mission as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our goal is to foster talent, build confidence, and help young artists take the next step in their musical journey. This long running program has been a launch pad for extraordinary artists—most notably Grammy award-winning Sarah Jarosz from Wimberley, TX, and continues to spotlight the next generation of roots, bluegrass, Americana, and traditional musicians. From our 2025 winner Ira Thorne, to those who’ve gone on to national stages, the Youth Talent Competition celebrates youth talent, heartfelt songwriting, and acoustic musicianship. There is no fee to enter and selected finalists will perform at the festival, have the opportunity to earn a cash prize, and receive professional feedback. The winner will also earn a featured showcase on stage at the festival the following year. If you know a young artist ready to take the stage—or are one yourself—we encourage you to apply and be part of the Old Settler’s legacy! |
