Returns

What is the return window?
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, simply return the item within 30 days of receipt, and we'll cover the cost of return shipping. Any returns of laboratory products must be initiated within 15 days of the purchase. Laboratory items must be unopened, unused, and otherwise safe to return.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
OpticsPlanet is unable to accept returns or exchanges for all items marked as Final Sale at time of purchase, and hygienic products, e.g., mouth-blown game calls, personal protective equipment, respirators, and masks. Food products, e.g., dehydrated foods, MREs, energy consumables, supplements, powders, etc. OpticsPlanet is not able to accept returns of ammunition for any reason, and no refunds will be issued for any returned ammunition. All items marked as "Final Sale" at time of purchase.

How will I receive my refund?
During the RMA process, you can choose between a full refund, exchange, or store credit. OpticsPlanet refunds customers via the original payment method. Refunds will be issued once the merchandise has been received, evaluated and processed by our Returns Team. OpticsPlanet processes all returns within 10 business days of the receipt of the returned merchandise. Credit card companies vary in the time required to post credits back to a customer's account. Please consult your credit card company for additional information regarding credit policies.

Who pays for return shipping?
For your convenience, OpticsPlanet offers a free pre-paid shipping label for qualifying domestic returns. OpticsPlanet is not responsible for any shipping charges incurred in returning the merchandise to us for international orders.

How do I start a return online?
The item must be returned in new condition (not used, worn, broken, mounted, etc.) The item must be returned in the original manufacturer's packaging with all original contents (such as instruction manuals, accessories, and additional components). You need to get a return authorization before you can send your items back to OpticsPlanet. You can fill out the return authorization form on their website to start the process.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about OpticsPlanet - it's basically become this massive online gear hub that started way back in 2000, which in internet years is kind of ancient. And honestly? They've managed to stay relevant by doing something pretty smart: they went all-in on being the everything store for outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, tactical folks, and even scientists who need lab equipment.

The selection is genuinely ridiculous. Over 830,000 products from 2,100 top brands in 370 niche specialty categories. That's not a typo. You can literally find rifle scopes, binoculars, camping gear, prescription eyewear, and microscopes all in one place. It's like they looked at the outdoor retail market and said, "Why not sell everything?"

What's interesting is how they've positioned themselves. Founded in 2000, OpticsPlanet has been offering a diverse product selection for those who play, work, and serve with passion, with the best brands in optics, gun parts, ammunition, hunting gear, outdoor and survival gear, apparel, footwear, and hundreds of other categories. They're not just targeting weekend warriors - they're going after law enforcement, military professionals, and serious hobbyists who actually know their gear.

The company operates out of Northbrook, Illinois, just outside Chicago, with over 300 people strong located only miles from Chicago, IL. They've got their own warehouse operation, which matters because it means they're not just drop-shipping everything. Though, fair warning, customer reviews are mixed on shipping times.

Here's what sets them apart: they've created exclusive product lines you can't find anywhere else, like their OPMOD gear and TRYBE Defense products. Plus, they offer this OpticsPlanet Bucks rewards program where you earn 2% back on purchases. FREE S&H over $49 to the contiguous 48 states, and if you're not satisfied with your purchase, simply return the item within 30 days of receipt, and they'll cover the cost of return shipping.

The company's been recognized repeatedly - In 2018, OpticsPlanet was recognized for the 12th straight year by Internet Retailer Magazine as one of the top 200 e-retailers in the United States. That's consistent performance over more than a decade.

But let's be real - they're not perfect. Some customers report frustrations with backorder communication and shipping delays. The company's gotten dinged by the BBB for pricing transparency issues. Yet they've also built partnerships with major brands like Vortex, Leupold, and Holosun, which suggests they're doing something right on the B2B side.

Bottom line? OpticsPlanet carved out this interesting niche as the go-to online destination for technical gear across multiple categories. Whether you're a hunter needing a new scope, a camper upgrading equipment, or someone who just needs quality binoculars, they've probably got it. Just maybe read the fine print on availability before you order.
