Returns

What is the return window?
O'Reilly Auto Parts offers a customer-friendly return policy, allowing returns within 90 days of purchase. Certain items like electrical parts and special orders have different return periods.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
You MUST have the original sales receipt to be eligible for warranty service. An original purchase receipt is required for all returns, and we ask that you make your return as soon as possible. O'Reilly Auto Parts offers flexibility for returns without a receipt, subject to their return policy discretion. In such cases, you may be eligible for a refund or exchange based on the item's current selling price. Providing a valid, government-issued photo ID may be required.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
According to O'Reilly Auto Parts' return policy, these are the items that are not eligible for a return: Batteries that were installed (unless they happen to be defective) Dry-stored batteries that were opened or added acid to. Certain items like special orders and customized products cannot be returned.

How will I receive my refund?
At our option, we will either replace any defective or malfunctioning product at no charge or provide a refund instead of replacing the product. O'Reilly Auto Parts provides options for refunds or exchanges, typically processed to the original form of payment.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Both online and in-store purchases can be returned to your local store. Remember, even items purchased online can be returned to any O'Reilly Auto Parts store throughout the United States or Puerto Rico, or can be shipped back to O'Reilly once the return has been authorized.

Editor's Take

Walk into any O'Reilly Auto Parts, and you'll immediately get why they've been around since 1957. It's not just the familiar jingle that gets stuck in your head-it's the fact that these folks actually know what they're talking about.

O'Reilly Automotive operates as an American automotive part retailer that provides automotive parts, tools, supplies, equipment, and accessories to professional service providers and do-it-yourself customers. But here's what makes them different: they've got this whole "Professional Parts People" thing down to a science. Walk in with a busted alternator, and they won't just hand you a part-they'll test your battery for free, scan your check engine light, and probably install your wiper blades while you're there.

The numbers tell the story. With more than 6,400 stores in 48 states, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Canada, they've basically become the neighborhood auto parts store for most of America. And honestly? That's kind of impressive when you consider they started with one store and 13 employees in Springfield, Missouri on December 2, 1957.

What really sets O'Reilly apart is their loaner tool program. Need a specialty tool for a one-time job? They'll loan it to you for just a refundable deposit. It's like having a fully-stocked garage without the overhead. Plus, they'll resurface your brake rotors, build custom hydraulic hoses, and even mix automotive paint at select locations.

The company's grown through smart acquisitions-they've absorbed everyone from Hi/LO Auto Supply to CSK Auto, making them the third largest auto parts chain in the country after Advance Auto Parts and AutoZone. But they've managed to keep that local feel, probably because their promote-from-within philosophy means their top leaders worked their way up.

Sure, you could order parts online and wait for shipping. But there's something to be said for walking into a place where someone can actually diagnose your car troubles on the spot. In a world of increasingly automated everything, O'Reilly still believes in the power of human expertise-and that's refreshing.
