A Letter from Our Founder, Rich Carson
If you’re receiving this note, you’re among the first to hear directly from me before we launch Longevity Today, ProHealth Longevity’s weekly newsletter on healthy aging.
My journey didn’t begin in a boardroom. It began with an illness.
In my twenties, what felt like the flu never really went away. After a long and difficult road, I was diagnosed with ME/CFS — myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome — a complex neuroimmune condition that, at the time, was poorly understood and often dismissed. I had studied biology and had completed four years as a Pre-Med student. But suddenly, everything stopped.
As I searched for answers, one thing became painfully clear: people facing complex health challenges were often on their own. Reliable information was scarce. High-quality nutritional products were difficult to find. And very few companies seemed to operate with both scientific rigor and genuine compassion.
That experience led me to found ProHealth in 1988 with two simple but demanding standards: Commerce with Compassion. Science with Standards. Those principles still guide us today.
Over the years, ProHealth has remained a founder-led company focused on quality, transparency, and long-term trust. We’ve built our reputation over decades, not marketing cycles. We’ve earned a 38-year BBB A+ rating, donated nearly $5 million to medical research and patient advocacy, and grown a global community of more than 500,000 people who look to us for education, support, and trustworthy products.
As science has advanced, our mission has evolved as well. The years we spent researching chronic illness has helped us recognize that the hallmarks of aging are the same kinds of systemic breakdowns that define chronic illness. We now understand much more about the biology of aging, and we believe longevity is not about chasing immortality. It’s about preserving healthspan — staying strong, clear, and capable for as long as possible.
That is the purpose of Longevity Today.
Beginning tomorrow, each week we’ll share research-backed insights, practical guidance, and thoughtful perspectives on healthy aging. We’ll do our best to separate what is well established from what is still emerging, and we’ll always strive to communicate with clarity, honesty, and respect for the complexity of the science.
Thank you for being here with us. We’re grateful for your trust, and we’re excited to be part of your journey.
