FROM THE DESK OF KELLY WOLGAMOTT

I hope you have all been enjoying our incredible Pure Michigan winter! At Travel Michigan, we have been preparing for another year of promoting our state as a premier, four-season destination and celebrating 20 incredible years of Pure Michigan with the travel and tourism industry.

2026 Pure Michigan Campaigns

Winter Campaign
The “Keep It Fresh” Pure Michigan winter campaign continues into the new year, targeting key in-state and out-of-state markets to inspire travelers to plan their winter getaways to Michigan. This campaign spans across print, digital, connected TV and paid social, and will continue through the end of February. The campaign also features the 30-second spot Fresh Start that highlights Michigan’s winter outdoor adventures and our stunning natural landscape.

Inviting International Travelers to Experience Winter in Pure Michigan
Some of you may remember in 2025, German travel writer Anja Richter visited the Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan for a winter story to be featured in Die Welt, one of Germany’s largest news publications. Her story reached a total of 16.83 million across online and print to highlight Michigan as an incredible four-season destination, and you can read her story here, which can be translated to English in your browser (you can also view the print version here).

Upcoming Spring/Summer Campaign
I invite our DMO partners to join us on Wednesday, February 4, for the 2026 Pure Michigan Brand Campaign & 20th Anniversary Webinar that will give a preview of our upcoming marketing efforts and celebration for the travel industry. If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Ly at [email protected].

For two decades, the “Pure Michigan” brand has blended a unique combination of award-winning creative, timeless sincerity, and state pride to become part of the fabric of Michigan’s identity. As we look back on this accomplishment – which was only made possible by our extraordinary team and the enduring support of our industry partners – in 2026 we’re also inviting travelers to remember their fondest memories of our state’s stunning natural beauty, rich culture, and unforgettable flavors.

Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism

Registration is officially open for the 2026 Pure Michigan Governor's Conference on Tourism (April 7-9, 2026). I invite you to join Travel Michigan and tourism industry professionals from throughout the state in Traverse City for insightful keynotes, engaging breakout sessions, and an abundance of networking opportunities.

We also invite you to submit nominations to recognize inspiring individuals and businesses who have accomplished extraordinary work in Michigan’s tourism industry for this year’s series of awards, listed below. Learn more about these recognitions here.

Pure Michigan Travel Guide Advertising Opportunity

It’s not too late to secure advertising space in the 2026 Spring/Summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide and Family Travel Guide. If you’re interested in advertising in the upcoming issues for the warm-weather travel seasons, please contact Richard Konopaske at (269) 965-3134 or [email protected].

Hoping you all stay warm and enjoy the snow this weekend!

All the best,

Kelly Wolgamott.
