Editor's Take

Rachel Riley isn't just another children's clothing brand-it's basically the gold standard for luxury kidswear that royalty actually wears. And when I say royalty, I mean Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been spotted in their pieces, which is kind of a big deal.

Rachel created her brand in 1998 when her children were young, making clothes for family and friends. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into something much bigger. Her energy and determination quickly saw the company grow from a mailorder business to the globally recognised, multi-award-winning brand that it is today.

The brand's aesthetic is pure vintage charm-think forties, fifties and sixties with fine tailoring, beautiful hand smocking, hand embroidery and vintage-inspired prints. But here's what makes them special: prints designed in-house, traditional craftsmanship including hand embroidery, hand smocking & use of fine soft fabrics. This isn't fast fashion-these are pieces designed to be passed down through generations.

Their flagship store is situated in the heart of London, on Marylebone High Street, where they've been based for the last 20 years. With many regular customers who live locally, they also see many international tourists who on their visits to London love to pop in and see us and pick up a memento or two!

The business has grown significantly-employing around 20 people across the UK, EU and the US, with one stand-alone store in London's Marylebone, as well as a workshop in France and three US showrooms in New York, Atlanta and Dallas. They're also stocked in 150 international stockists, including Harrods, Selfridges and House of Fraser in the UK.

What really sets Rachel Riley apart is their commitment to quality over quantity. Reversing the culture of "throwaway" fashion and making clothes that are built to last is clearly part of their mission. Rachel, together with her daughter Rose, designs classic, beautifully well-made clothes for children, creating special heirloom keepsakes.

Honestly? The brand represents everything that's right about traditional British craftsmanship in an age of disposable fashion. Sure, you'll pay more, but you're getting pieces that could easily become family treasures.
