Returns

What is the return window?
Refunds are given on regular, sale and clearance-priced merchandise returned with original receipt and tags attached, within 7 days of purchase. If an item is returned more than seven days and up to 30 days after purchase, a store credit or exchange will be given for the original selling price as long as the returned item has tags attached and original receipt is presented. For online purchases, returns are accepted within 30 days of the original ship date.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
Yes, refunds require the original receipt and tags attached. For online returns to stores, you must have all original tags attached to the merchandise and the packing slip for your order, or the store will be unable to process your return.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Underwear, panties, swimsuits, bodywear, bras, earrings and other intimate apparel cannot be returned after purchase. Any merchandise which has been worn cannot be returned. Refunds, credits and/or exchanges are permitted on shoes, boots, and similar footwear only if the item has not been worn, is returned with the original box, and with original receipt.

How will I receive my refund?
Refund will be in the same form in which payment was originally made (however, if the payment was made by debit card, the refund will be made in cash). Refunds for online purchases returned in store will be issued in the original form of payment, except for online purchases made using PayPal, Klarna, Afterpay, Cash App or Shop Cash, which are valid for merchandise credit only.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes, online purchases can be returned either to rainbowshops.com or to any of our Rainbow Store locations. We gladly accept returns to any of our 1,000+ Rainbow Stores.

Editor's Take

Rainbow Shops is kind of a retail phenomenon that doesn't get enough credit. Founded way back in 1935-yeah, that's almost 90 years ago-this place has been quietly serving up affordable fashion long before "fast fashion" became a buzzword. And here's the thing: they've got nearly 1,000 stores scattered across the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands, which is honestly impressive for a company most people don't think about until they need an emergency outfit.

What makes Rainbow interesting is their laser focus on inclusivity. They're not just paying lip service to plus-size fashion-they actually pioneered it. Sizes run from XS all the way to 4X, and they've been doing this since before it was trendy to care. The average store is about 5,000 square feet, packed floor-to-ceiling with everything from bodycon dresses to kids' school uniforms to shoes that won't destroy your budget. Nothing costs over $40, which in today's economy is basically a miracle.

But let's talk about the shopping experience, because it's... intense. If you've never been to a Rainbow, picture this: merchandise everywhere, constant shipments (they get new stock basically every day), and a vibe that's more "treasure hunt" than "curated boutique." Some locations don't even have fitting rooms, which is wild. You've gotta check your bags at the counter, can only take three items into the dressing room at a time where they do exist, and the return policy is strict-seven days for a refund, 30 days for store credit. It's not for everyone.

The company's owned by the Chehebar family now, and they've expanded the empire to include sister brands like 5-7-9 and Marianne, bringing the total store count to around 1,300 when you lump them all together. Their e-commerce game took off during the pandemic-sales grew 900% over six years-and they've actually figured out the omnichannel thing pretty well. You can order online and pick up in-store, which is clutch if you're worried about porch pirates.

Here's what's fascinating: Rainbow targets shoppers making under $50,000 a year, and they've built an entire business model around that demographic. No sales, no gimmicks-just everyday low prices. They add hundreds of new styles to their website daily, and their Instagram has over 435,000 followers who genuinely seem to love the brand. Even Tiffany Haddish name-dropped them in the movie Night School (though she called it "Rainbow's," which is technically wrong but whatever).
