Editor's Take
Here's the thing about Rituals-they've basically cracked the code on making everyday routines feel like, well, actual rituals. Founded in Amsterdam in 2000, they were the first luxury brand to combine home and body products, which sounds simple enough until you realize how genius that move was.
Think about it. Most beauty brands stick to either skincare or home fragrance, but Rituals said "why not both?" And honestly, it makes perfect sense. Their products are formulated by leading dermatologists and enriched with botanical extracts, containing powerful revitalizing properties of pure plant extracts. But here's what sets them apart-every single product is designed around this philosophy of transforming mundane moments into something meaningful.
In 2023, they had their best year ever with revenue up 22% and opened over 200 new stores globally. That's not just growth; that's validation that people are craving this kind of intentional self-care. With more than 870 stores across 33+ countries, they've managed to scale without losing that boutique spa feeling.
What really gets me is their approach to sustainability. They're a certified B Corporation, which means they're legally required to consider their impact on workers, customers, community, and environment. 79% of their personal care products contain over 90% natural origin ingredients, every collection has refill options, and they plant, protect, or restore a tree for every refill sold.
The brand draws heavily from Asian wellness traditions-think cherry blossom rituals from Japan or Ayurvedic practices from India. But they're not just slapping exotic names on generic products. They invest significant time understanding the culture and beliefs to respectfully bring collection stories to life, researching the origin of rituals and ingredients before translating them into luxury products.
And let's talk about their retail experience. They've introduced "Mind Oasis" concepts in flagship stores that combine science-based mental relaxation techniques with ancient wisdom to help reduce stress and improve wellbeing. It's like they're not just selling products-they're selling a whole lifestyle philosophy.
