Returns
What is the return window?
Cruise reservations that are cancelled by Guest prior to the sail date may be subject to a cancellation charge. The amount of the cancellation charge shall vary depending on how far in advance of the sail date the Operator receives notice of cancellation. For 5-night or longer cruises, cancelling at least 90 days prior may qualify for a full or partial refund. For 1-4 night cruises, the window is 75 days.
Should I choose to cancel a reservation confirmed under a non-refundable deposit fare, what refunds will apply?
Outside of final payment, when a non-refundable deposit cancellation occurs, the full deposit amount will be held in penalty. Any additional payments made will be refunded. Non-refundable deposit fares allow guests to book early at lower pricing but the deposit cannot be refunded at any time after it has been paid.
How will I receive my refund?
If Carrier received payment via credit card, the refund will be made to that credit card. If Carrier received payment from your travel advisor, the refund will be provided back to that travel advisor.
What if Royal Caribbean cancels my cruise?
If Royal Caribbean cancels a voyage, or delays embarkation by three (3) days or more and you elect not to sail on the delayed voyage or a substitute voyage offered, you can obtain a refund or a future cruise credit (FCC). Although the practice is to issue a future cruise credit automatically, you may contact them to request a refund. Refund requests must be made within six (6) months of the date the cruise was cancelled or the scheduled embarkation date, whichever is earlier.
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Royal Caribbean-it's basically the cruise line that decided "bigger is better" wasn't just a saying, but a business model. And honestly? They might be onto something.
Royal Caribbean Group operates a global fleet of 68 ships across its five brands traveling to all seven continents, serving millions of guests each year through its portfolio including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea. But what really sets them apart isn't just the sheer number of ships-it's what they've managed to cram onto them.
Think about it. These are the folks who looked at a cruise ship and thought, "You know what this needs? An ice skating rink. And a surf simulator. Oh, and maybe a zip line while we're at it." They've been doing this kind of thing for decades, constantly pushing what's possible at sea. Perfect Day at CocoCay, their award-winning private destination, features seven stretches of beach and the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean.
The newest ships-Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas-take this philosophy to almost absurd levels. We're talking about vessels with waterparks, multiple neighborhoods (yes, neighborhoods on a ship), and enough dining options to make your head spin. It's like they took a small city and made it float.
But here's what's interesting. Despite all the bells and whistles, Royal Caribbean hasn't forgotten the basics. Their cruises unlock incredible travel destinations, taking guests deep into top-rated cruise ports and off-the-beaten-path gems so you can vacation in each city like a local. Whether you're heading to Alaska, the Mediterranean, or the Caribbean, the itineraries are solid.
And they've clearly figured out the family vacation formula. There's something for everyone-from toddlers to grandparents. The kids can go wild at the waterslides while the adults hit the spa or grab a drink at one of the many bars. It's organized chaos, but in the best way possible.
One thing that stands out is their approach to customer service. According to Facebook, Royal Caribbean International has a response time of "typically replies instantly," with an average response time internally of between seven and eight minutes. That's pretty impressive when you're dealing with thousands of guests across dozens of ships.
The pricing can be all over the map, though. You can find deals if you're flexible with dates and willing to book early, but those premium experiences-suites, specialty dining, shore excursions-add up fast. Still, for what you get, especially on the newer ships, many people find it worth the splurge.
Look, Royal Caribbean isn't trying to be a quiet, intimate cruise experience. They're loud, they're bold, and they're unapologetically massive. If you want to feel like you're on vacation at a floating resort with endless options, this is your line. Just don't expect to see everything in one cruise-you'd need a week just to find all the restaurants.
