Hi ,
Happy July.🌼
Lately, I’ve been finding quiet moments in LA to practice Ikebana—the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement.
In the West, floral arrangements are often about abundance, filling every corner of a vase with color. But Ikebana is different. It is an exercise in restraint.
The practice is less about what you add, and more about the process of gently removing what is unnecessary—refining the wildness of nature into a simpler, more essential expression.
For me, touching the branches and leaves with my hands awakens something deeply familiar. It brings me back to the feeling of childhood, when creating something with our own hands felt effortless and pure.
In a world filled with noise, this simple act of making is surprisingly calming. It invites me to slow down and find true stillness in the present moment.
This patience and deep respect for nature is the very heart of why I started R’s KOSO.
As the summer days get busier, I hope you can find your own small moment of calm and ritual today.
Thank you for being a part of our journey.🌿
Wishing you a peaceful, beautiful July, — Ryu |
