There are a lot of high quality shoe companies who use the same tight fibered dense Italian tanned leather and the same time consuming shoemaking techniques to make incredible boots and shoes. Saddleback’s patent pending Good Sole rubber half sole

The Italian rubber sole maker, mold maker and shoemaker were all amazed by our sole and couldn’t believe no one had done it before. Saddleback’s Patent Pending custom Good Sole is one of the longest lasting, most resistant, highest performing and most functional rubber soles in the world. Our boots can be resoled over and over and over and over and over again without wearing out the welt instead of just 3 times. Some would say it’s an eternal sole. How’s your sole?

We didn’t try to create a better rubber recipe, because the Italian PhD chemist told me they already had one that they didn’t know how they could make any better. Cheap rubber soles use cheap ingredients and fillers that wear out in half the time, get brittle, don’t grip when wet, crack in cold weather and deform on hot surfaces. Saddleback’s Good Sole is the opposite.

Our Foot Strengthening Shoe Shape

(1st Generation Munson Last)

The most popular and influential shoe shape (last) in human history is the Munson last (developed 1908 to 1912) and ours is based on the lost and beyond rare first generation of the six generations of that last. Hundreds of millions of shoes and boots were made on the Munson last until 1970

Wearing my own boots for 4 months strengthened my arches and so ended my 15 years of knee, foot, achilles tendon and hip pain permanently. A lot of my friends and customers sing the same song and also talk about how their back pain even went away too. Strangely, the shape was developed by a relative of mine, Dr. Edward Lyman Munson.

All Day Comfort

Saddleback’s Good Sole has a layer of shock absorbing 60 hardness rubber sewn to the leather and then a layer of 70 hardness rubber, with all of the tread, permanently bonded to that. If the whole sole were 60 hardness, it would wear away too quickly. That shock absorption combined with the anatomically correct shape of the shoe that tricks your feet into thinking they’re barefoot, creates comfort for all day standing or marching. It’s why Dr. Munson created the Munson last. The battalion who could march the most soldiers to the battle, usually won.
