Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Safe & Chic-it's basically what happens when someone in the beauty industry gets fed up with all the questionable ingredients lurking in mainstream products and decides to do something about it. Founded by Angela Dubia, who spent years as an account executive for Parfums Givenchy managing over 100 California retail locations including Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, the company emerged from her personal journey of detoxing her beauty routine after switching to organic food restored her energy levels.

And honestly? That origin story feels refreshingly authentic in a world where so many beauty brands seem to materialize out of thin air with perfectly polished backstories. Safe & Chic positions itself as "the premier resource for safe and effective hair and skincare products," promising transparency and trust, with each product free from toxins, parabens, phthalates, and other harmful chemicals.

What's interesting is their approach to curation. They carry over 100 brands and over 1,500 beauty, skin care and hair care products, which is substantial but not overwhelming like some mega-retailers. Every product they sell is free of toxins, parabens and other dangerous chemicals like SLS found in most mainstream products, plus they're cruelty-free with no animal testing, and they've even added gluten free and vegan sections.

The customer base is pretty diverse too. Their customers range from teenagers to women in their late 60s, with many customers who come to them after they had cancer and went through chemotherapy and radiation, now looking for safe products. That's not your typical beauty demographic, but it makes sense when you think about it-people dealing with health issues often become hyper-aware of what they're putting on their bodies.
