Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Accessories including socks and shoe care products are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged. Sanita does not accept returns of worn shoes, and items that show signs of wear or damage will be refused, donated, and will not be eligible for refunds or exchanges.
How will I receive my refund?
Refunds will be issued to the original credit card used at the time of purchase, and you should allow 5 to 7 business days for your refund to return to the original method of payment after it's been processed.
Who pays for return shipping?
Your first return or exchange from Sanita.com is always free, and orders over $150 are also free to return or exchange with no fees. If your order is less than $150, a $10 handling fee is deducted only if your order is returned in its entirety with no merchandise kept.
What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
If you received a damaged item, contact Sanita within 7 days of delivery at [email protected] for assistance.
Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Sanita-they've been making clogs since 1907, which means they were perfecting the art of comfortable footwear before your great-grandparents were even born. And honestly? That kind of longevity tells you something.
These aren't your garden-variety clogs. Handcrafted in Europe since 1907, designed in Denmark and made in Poland, every pair comes from a factory that's been doing this for over a century. The company was started by a guy named Christian Meldgaard Andersen who literally made clogs for local masons, farmers, and bakers in Herning, Denmark. He'd hop on his bicycle and pedal around selling shoes. Kind of charming when you think about it.
But what really sets Sanita apart is who wears them. Walk into any hospital, busy restaurant kitchen, or kindergarten classroom, and you'll probably spot a pair. You'll find their clogs worn in high-end restaurants, busy hospital wards, small-town salons, kindergarten classrooms-basically anywhere people spend 12-hour shifts on their feet. Nurses swear by them. Chefs love them. Teachers? Same story.
The construction is what you'd expect from European craftsmanship-premium leather, wooden bases (or faux wood, depending on the style), and that signature clog silhouette that somehow manages to be both practical and kind of stylish. They've got the "Seal of Acceptance" from the American Podiatric Medical Association, which isn't just marketing fluff-it means actual foot doctors looked at these and said "yeah, these won't destroy your feet."
Now, Sanita operates a bit differently than you might expect. M. Leonard Int'l. Inc. is the exclusive distributor for the United States, serving scrub shops, family-owned shoe stores, large online retailers, and direct consumers. Their U.S. warehouse is tucked into a 150-year-old former shoe factory in Maine, which feels appropriately on-brand. Though their main distribution hub is actually in Houston now.
Prices hover around the $119-$169 range for most styles, which isn't cheap-but when you're talking about shoes that'll last years and keep your feet happy through long shifts, the math starts making sense. They've got everything from the classic Professional clog (their bestseller) to sandals, boots, and even safety shoes with slip-resistant soles.
One thing to note: they're primarily an online operation now, so you won't find Sanita storefronts on every corner. But they work with tons of retailers, and their website ships pretty much everywhere in the U.S. Customer service is email-only these days, which might frustrate some people, but they're responsive during business hours.
The brand has this interesting position in the market-they're not trying to be trendy or fashionable in the Instagram sense. They're just really, really good at making comfortable, durable clogs that professionals trust. And in a world of fast fashion and disposable everything, there's something refreshing about a company that's been making essentially the same product for 117 years because, well, they got it right the first time.
