Editor's Take
So here's the thing about SAXX Underwear-it's basically the brand that made talking about men's underwear comfort not weird anymore. And honestly? That's kind of revolutionary when you think about it.
The whole story started in 2006 when founder Trent Kitsch was on a fishing trip, stuck in a cold, clammy ocean suit for hours. As a former baseball player, he imagined a catcher's mitt hammock design and turned it upside down in his mind. After working with a seamstress and designer, fourteen prototypes later, the BallPark Pouch™ and SAXX Underwear were ready for action. That's the origin story, but what makes SAXX stick around is that they actually solved a problem most guys just... dealt with.
The BallPark Pouch is their signature tech-a three-dimensional hammock-shaped pouch that keeps everything separated and supported. It's not just marketing fluff. The design prevents chafing, reduces friction, and basically makes you forget you're wearing underwear at all. They've also got DropTemp cooling technology (no chemicals, just smart fabric engineering) and these Flat Out Seams that eliminate that annoying chafe you get from traditional stitching.
What's interesting is how they've expanded beyond just boxer briefs. They've got trunks, boxers, long johns, activewear, even swim shorts-all with that same pouch technology built in. The 2N1 Sport Shorts are particularly clever: athletic shorts with a built-in liner that actually supports instead of just... existing. Notice how most athletic shorts have those flimsy mesh liners that bunch up? SAXX fixed that.
Price-wise, you're looking at around $30-40 per pair for most styles, which yeah, is more than your average three-pack from Target. But they've got this First Pair Guarantee thing-if you're trying SAXX for the first time and not satisfied with your first single pair of underwear for any reason, they'll make it right within 30 days from purchase. That's pretty confident.
They're also big on sustainability and men's health awareness. SAXX has a long-standing partnership with the Testicular Cancer Foundation, and a portion of sales from certain prints goes toward raising awareness and educating young men about testicular health-the most common cancer among males aged 15-34.
The company's grown from that fishing trip idea into a global brand with offices in Vancouver and Portland, selling through their own site, Amazon, and retailers like REI, Nordstrom, and Macy's. They've even partnered with athletes like NFL defensive end Maxx Crosby and NBA player Aaron Gordon, which tells you something about the performance credibility.
But here's what really matters: the reviews are consistently positive. Guys who switch to SAXX tend to become pretty vocal advocates. It's one of those products where once you try it, going back to regular underwear feels like a downgrade. The fabric quality is solid-lots of modal, viscose, and moisture-wicking blends-and they hold up wash after wash.
Are they perfect? The price point is a barrier for some, and if you're someone who just doesn't care that much about underwear, you might not see the value. But for guys who spend a lot of time active, or just want to be more comfortable during a long workday, SAXX delivers on the hype. They turned underwear from an afterthought into something worth paying attention to.
