Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Serenity Kids-they're basically doing what every parent wishes they could do but doesn't have time for. We started Serenity Kids because we wanted the best for our baby, Della, and we didn't like what we found on the market. Babies need protein and healthy fats to grow their brains and bodies, and no current baby food included these essential macronutrients.

And honestly? That makes total sense when you think about it. So we created our own to mimic the nutrients of breast milk, which is mostly just fat and carbs! Most baby food on the shelves is basically fruit puree with some vegetables thrown in-sweet, sure, but not exactly what a growing brain needs.

What sets them apart is their approach to macronutrients. Serenity Kids is the first perfectly convenient, pouch-delivered baby food offering the naturally balanced ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates babies over six-months-old need to thrive. These ratios are reflected in breast milk and rebuilt here with grass-fed and pastured meats, organic vegetables and healthy fats.

The company's growth has been pretty remarkable. Since launching in 2018, Serenity Kids has quickly become the fastest selling shelf-stable baby food pouch brand in all grocery channels. Serenity Kids' success, including 71% year-over-year retail revenue growth in 2023 versus 2022, can be attributed to the brand's strong product quality and differentiation, unique innovation, and commitment to the highest nutritional, ethical, and taste standards that parents seek today.

But what really gets me is their ingredient sourcing. We use grass fed and pasture raised meats and from small American family farms that never use antibiotics, hormones, or GMO feed. We blend in organic vegetables and healthy fats to balance out our recipes. Our ethically sourced meats come from American farms who prioritize regenerative agriculture practices. Every colorful veggie used in our purees is Non-GMO and certified USDA Organic, grown on healthy, nutrient-rich American soil.

The sustainability angle is interesting too. Our cases are made of 100% post-consumer recycled material, and our pouch manufacturing facility is entirely solar powered! Our pouches have a carbon footprint that is 9 times smaller than glass jars and are recyclable through Terracycle.

Notice how they're not just another baby food company trying to make vegetables taste like candy? All of our baby food is low in sugar, high in healthy fats, and free from sugary fruits, grains, eggs, nuts, dairy, gluten, added sugars, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, GMOs, and additives. Our products never contain potentially harmful ingredients like artificial sweeteners, chemicals, sugar, or GMOs. We avoid low-nutrition fillers like grains, legumes, and corn as well as allergens like gluten, eggs, nuts, and dairy.

The founders' story adds another layer-Serenity Kids was created and is led by co-founders Serenity and Joe Carr who could not find baby food options that were both low in sugar and contained balanced macronutrients, so they decided to make their own. On August 5, 2018, we launched Serenity Kids which coincidentally was also the same day I gave birth to our daughter, Della. Talk about timing.

Honestly? I think they're onto something important here. Fat is needed to absorb fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K. Babies need 30g of fat per day! When you consider that most traditional baby foods are basically sugar water with some vitamins thrown in, what Serenity Kids is doing feels like common sense wrapped in a convenient pouch.
