Returns
What is the return window?
Sleep Outfitters offers a 120-day comfort promise where you can exchange your mattress once within 120 days of your original purchase date for a mattress of equal or greater value, provided you have slept on it a minimum of 30 nights and have kept it in like-new condition by using a mattress protector purchased from Sleep Outfitters at the time the sleep set was purchased.
Do I need a receipt to return an item?
While not explicitly stated, you can track your delivery using your sales order number at the top of your receipt, suggesting receipts are important for tracking purchases and likely required for returns.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
The following is not eligible for exchange under the 120-Night Comfort Promise: goods obtained as a warranty replacement or purchased "as is," such as floor models or outlet products, specialty sizes such as Split King, California King, and Split California King, adjustable bases, pillows, mattress protectors, and sheets.
How will I receive my refund?
Guest Services will contact you within 24 to 48 business hours once the order has been canceled. Once we verify the refund information, it will take 3-14 business days, depending on the form of payment, for you to receive your refund.
Who pays for return shipping?
An exchange fee of $99 is required for a comfort exchange to cover transportation and exchange costs.

Sleep Outfitters isn't your typical mattress store-and honestly, that's exactly what makes them interesting. Since 1983, they've been doing something different in the sleep game, starting in West Virginia and now sprawling across over 100 locations in six states. But here's the thing that caught my attention: they don't call their staff "salespeople." They're "Outfitters," which sounds a bit gimmicky until you realize what they actually do.
These folks have created what they call a "Personal Sleep Profile"-basically a consultation where they figure out your sleep habits, issues, and needs before recommending anything. It's like having a sleep therapist who also happens to sell mattresses. They're trained to handle everything from the common stuff (waking up hot, partner movement) to more serious concerns like sleep apnea and mobility issues.
The company carries the heavy hitters: Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster. Nothing revolutionary there, but their approach to selling them is where things get interesting. Instead of the typical mattress store pressure tactics, they've built their whole business model around this consultative approach. They even offer a 120-night comfort promise, which gives you four months to decide if you made the right choice-though there's a $99 exchange fee and some conditions about mattress protectors.
What's particularly smart is their delivery service. They don't just drop off your mattress; they set it up and haul away your old one. It's those little touches that separate them from the big box stores. And speaking of separation, they're now part of the Mattress Warehouse family, which gives them more buying power while maintaining their boutique-ish approach.
The pricing seems competitive-they offer a 120-day price promise where they'll refund the difference if you find the same mattress cheaper elsewhere. Not groundbreaking, but solid. Their customer service runs through a centralized system at (866) 637-3778, and they seem to take the "guest services" approach seriously, handling everything from warranty claims to delivery questions.
One thing that stands out in reviews is how their staff actually listens. Multiple customers mention feeling heard rather than sold to, which is refreshing in an industry known for high-pressure tactics. The company employs around 300 people across those 100+ stores, so they're substantial enough to have systems in place but small enough to maintain that personal touch.
