Editor's Take
Here's the thing about Snowe - it's basically what happens when two Wharton grads get tired of choosing between IKEA's disposable basics and West Elm's wallet-draining "investment pieces." And honestly? They kind of nailed it.
Founded in 2015 by Rachel Cohen and Andrés Modak, Snowe operates on that direct-to-consumer model everyone's doing now, but they were early to the home goods game. Think Warby Parker, but for the stuff you actually use every single day - sheets, towels, plates, flatware. The kind of things you don't think about until you're eating cereal out of a chipped bowl from college and realize you're 30.
What sets them apart is the materials game. All dinnerware items are sourced in Portugal using Limoges porcelain, while all glassware, stainless steel flatware and luxe linens are produced in Italy. That's the fancy stuff usually marked up 300% at department stores. Snowe's whole pitch is cutting out the middleman and going straight to those European factories, then selling to you at prices that don't require a small loan.
Their percale sheets have developed something of a cult following. Since launching in 2015, Snowe has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and New York Magazine. Not bad for a company selling what are essentially fancy napkins and bowls.
But here's where it gets interesting - they're not trying to be everything to everyone. The aesthetic is decidedly minimal. Clean lines, neutral colors, that whole "effortlessly chic" vibe that's actually quite effortful to pull off. If you're into maximalism or bold patterns, this probably isn't your jam. But if you've ever looked at a hotel room and thought "I want my bedroom to feel like this," Snowe's your people.
The pricing sits in that sweet spot between affordable and aspirational. They offer products in four categories: Eat, Drink, Sleep and Bathe, with prices ranging from $32 to $320. So yeah, you're not getting Target prices, but you're also not dropping Restoration Hardware money either.
The return policy is pretty standard for online retail - 14 days of purchase if unused - though some customers have griped about the $9.99 return shipping fee. Fair enough, but also not unusual in this space.
Snowe's carved out a nice niche for people who want their homes to look put-together without requiring a trust fund or an interior designer. It's not revolutionary, but sometimes you don't need revolutionary. Sometimes you just need really good sheets that don't pill after three washes. And apparently, they've got those.
