Editor's Take

Space NK isn't just another beauty retailer-it's basically the cool older sister of the beauty world who somehow knows about every amazing product before anyone else does. Founded back in 1991 and opening its first doors in Covent Garden in 1993, this British beauty haven started as something completely different, selling smoothies and independent fashion alongside those hard-to-find beauty treasures that would eventually become their calling card.

What makes Space NK special isn't just their 100+ carefully curated brands like Tatcha, Drunk Elephant, NARS, Rare Beauty, and Hourglass-it's how they've managed to stay ahead of beauty trends for over three decades. They're the ones who introduced us to brands like Diptyque and By Terry before they became household names. And honestly? They're still doing it.

The brand's approach to beauty discovery is refreshingly unbiased. Their beauty advisors are genuinely there to help and share expert knowledge, not just push the most expensive products. They've created this environment where you can experiment with a £15 serum or a £150 foundation with equal enthusiasm from the staff.

But here's what really sets them apart: they've built a flourishing community where the customer is genuinely at the heart of everything they do. Their NDULGE loyalty program isn't just about points-it's about creating those "money can't buy" beauty experiences that make you feel like an insider.

Space NK has also mastered the art of exclusive launches and limited editions. They're often the only place in the UK where you can get certain products, which creates this sense of urgency and excitement around new releases. It's like being part of a beauty club where you get first dibs on everything good.

The brand's evolution from that single Covent Garden store to a beauty empire shows they understand something fundamental about their customers: we want to discover, not just shop. We want to feel like we're part of something bigger than just another transaction. And somehow, even as they've grown, they've managed to maintain that boutique feel that made them special in the first place.
