Returns

What is the return window?
Spencer's accepts returns of unworn and unused items in their original packaging within 30 days of receipt for both online and in-store purchases.

Do I need a receipt to return an item?
Returns without the original invoice will be credited for the current selling price to a Spencer's Gift Card that you can use for future purchases online or at a Spencer's store. For merchandise returns without a receipt, an exchange for other merchandise in the store or a Spencer's gift card will be issued.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Custom Products and Clearance Items are non-returnable and non-refundable. Some items, like intimates and body jewelry, are not eligible for returns.

How will I receive my refund?
Refunds are issued in the same form of payment used for the original purchase. Credit or debit card refunds go back to that card, while cash purchases are refunded in cash. For purchases made with a credit card, a credit will be issued to the credit card used for the original purchase.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
If it is easier for you to return your online purchase at a Spencer's store near you, we're totally cool with that! Just take the product you want to return and your invoice to the Spencer's nearest you. We will credit the return to the original credit/debit card used for purchase.

Editor's Take

Walk into any mall in America, and you'll probably find one-that store with the blacklight posters in the window, the one your parents maybe side-eyed when you were a teenager. Spencer's has been doing its thing since 1947, which is kind of wild when you think about it. Started as a mail-order catalog selling novelty items, and now it's basically the go-to spot for gag gifts, graphic tees, and stuff that makes you laugh (or blush).

Here's the thing about Spencer's: it knows exactly what it is. The company operates over 675 stores across the U.S. and Canada, and every single one feels like a controlled chaos of pop culture merchandise, irreverent humor, and things you didn't know you needed until you saw them. They're not trying to be classy or understated-their whole vibe is "Life's A Party, We're Makin' It Fun," and honestly, they commit to that energy hard.

The product mix is... eclectic. You've got your standard graphic tees with memes and band logos, sure. But then there's also lava lamps (yes, still), body jewelry, collectible figures, room décor that ranges from cute to absolutely cursed, and a whole back section that's definitely 18+. It's the kind of place where you can buy a Pickle Rick shirt, a bachelorette party sash, and a blacklight poster all in one trip. Notice how they've managed to stay relevant through decades of changing trends? That's not accidental-they pivot fast, always stocking whatever's hot in pop culture right now.

And they're not just Spencer's anymore. The company also owns Spirit Halloween, which pops up every fall in empty storefronts and basically dominates the Halloween retail game with over 1,500 seasonal locations. That's a pretty smart business model-year-round novelty gifts, plus a massive Halloween surge that reportedly makes up about half their annual revenue.

The stores themselves have this specific aesthetic. Kinda dark, kinda loud, always packed with merchandise floor to ceiling. You either love it or you don't, but there's something nostalgic about browsing through the aisles, even if you're just killing time at the mall. They've been redesigning stores since 2004, but they've kept that essential Spencer's DNA intact-irreverent, a little edgy, unapologetically fun.

What's interesting is how they've adapted to online shopping while maintaining that brick-and-mortar presence. Their website mirrors the in-store chaos in the best way possible, and they're active on social media (938K Instagram followers, 364K on TikTok), constantly pushing new products and engaging with their audience. They get their demographic-primarily 18-24 year olds who appreciate humor and aren't taking life too seriously.

So yeah, Spencer's isn't for everyone. But for what it is-a reliable source of novelty gifts, pop culture merch, and things that make you go "huh, that's weird"-it's been doing it longer and better than most. Sometimes you just need a place that sells both Squishmallows and shot glasses shaped like flamingos, you know?
