Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Supply-they're basically the anti-razor company that became a razor company, if that makes any sense. Founded with this whole philosophy of fusing "classic traditions and plant-based ingredients with the most useful innovations of modern science and engineering," they've managed to turn what most of us consider a mundane morning chore into something that feels almost... intentional.
The story starts with Patrick and Jennifer Coddou, a husband-and-wife team from Fort Worth, Texas, dealing with Patrick's chronic razor bumps and irritation from multi-blade razors. Instead of just switching brands like the rest of us would, Patrick-being an engineer-decided to head to the garage and design his own single-blade razor. After dozens of design adjustments measured in fractions of millimeters, they launched their first Kickstarter campaign on August 3, 2015, hitting their $20K goal within 24 hours and raising almost 4x that amount.
What's fascinating is how they've positioned themselves against the entire multi-blade industrial complex. Their argument? Multi-blade razors pull hairs up and cut them too close, causing irritation and ingrown hairs, while their Single Edge is designed to shave at the surface of your skin for a close, comfortable, and irritation-free shave. It's like they looked at the "more blades = better shave" marketing and said, "Actually, no."
They've gotten some serious validation too-featured on Shark Tank, GQ, Men's Journal, and more. In September 2022, Supply Co was acquired by Foundry Brands, and as of June 2023, the company's annual sales reached an estimated $15 million. Not bad for a garage project.
But here's what really sets them apart: they offer a 100-day trial period where you can return the product even after using it, and if you're not 100% satisfied, you get a full refund. Their grooming tools are built to last a lifetime, and if anything goes wrong, they'll make it right. That's either supreme confidence in their product or really good customer service-probably both.
