Editor's Take
So here's the thing about Targus - they basically invented the laptop bag back in 1983, which feels kind of wild when you think about it. Like, someone had to be the first person to say "hey, maybe we should protect these expensive portable computers," and that was them. And they've been at it for over 40 years now, which in tech years is basically forever.
What's interesting is how they've evolved beyond just bags. Sure, they're still the number one laptop case brand in the US, but walk into their world now and you'll find universal docking stations, privacy screens, wireless keyboards, mice, and basically everything you need to turn any space into a functional workspace. They've got this whole ecosystem thing going on that makes sense for how we actually work today - sometimes at home, sometimes at a coffee shop, sometimes in an actual office.
The sustainability angle is legit too. Back in 2008, they launched their EcoSmart line made from recycled plastic bottles, and they've recycled 17 million bottles to date. Their 2025 Global Sustainability Report shows they're serious about hitting Net Zero by 2050, with EcoVadis giving them a Bronze rating that puts them in the top 35% globally. Not just greenwashing - they're tracking Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and participating in Walmart's Project Gigaton program.
Here's what really stands out though: they work with 90% of Fortune 1000 companies. That's not a small feat. When major enterprises need to outfit thousands of employees with reliable tech accessories, they're turning to Targus. And the products aren't just corporate-boring either - collections like Newport, Cypress, and CitySmart actually look good while being functional.
The warranty situation is pretty solid. Most laptop bags and tablet cases come with a limited lifetime warranty, while docking stations and tech accessories get industry-leading time-specific warranties. And if something goes wrong, their 30-day return policy is straightforward - though you'll want to keep everything in original condition.
One thing that's kind of fascinating is their global reach. Founded in London, headquartered in California, with operations in over 140 countries. They're not just an American brand that ships internationally - they've got actual offices and teams across six continents. That kind of scale means they understand different work cultures and needs, which probably explains why their products work for such a diverse customer base.
The pricing sits in that sweet spot where it's not bargain-basement cheap, but you're not paying luxury brand premiums either. You're paying for products that are engineered to last and backed by actual warranties. For people who rely on their tech daily - which is basically everyone now - that peace of mind matters.
