Returns

What is the return window?
Returns and exchanges are 100% free for items in unworn, unwashed, and unused condition (i.e., original tags, unworn, unwashed, no scuffs on the soles of boots) within 30 days of receipt. If you are buying boots, we strongly encourage you to try them on carpet to avoid scratching the outsoles!

How will I receive my refund?
If you are eligible for an exchange or refund, Tecovas will either provide you a refund back to your original form of payment or we will ship your exchange product, as applicable. Please allow at least 14 days from the date Tecovas receives your return to process your return or exchange, with additional time for shipping allotted for any exchanges.

Can I return online purchases in-store?
Yes! If you'd rather return or exchange your online purchase in person instead of using the online process, our team will make sure that your needs are met in the store.

How do I start a return online?
To start a return or exchange, simply head to tecovas.com/returns and follow the prompts, then mail your package back to us! We'll send you a notification as soon as your refund has been inspected and processed, or your requested exchange is on its way.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Tecovas-they kind of came out of nowhere and just completely changed the cowboy boot game. And I mean that in the best way possible.

The story's pretty relatable, actually. Paul Hedrick, a Texas native who'd graduated from Harvard, was working as a management consultant in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he found it difficult to purchase cowboy boots. He started designing and manufacturing boots in León, Mexico, before launching the online retailer in 2015. That's basically the origin story-a homesick Texan who couldn't find decent boots up north and decided to do something about it.

But what makes Tecovas different isn't just the founder's backstory. It's how they approached an industry that hadn't really changed much in decades. The company got its start as a direct-to-consumer business and is headquartered in Austin, Texas. They cut out the middleman, sold directly online, and suddenly you could get handcrafted boots at prices that actually made sense. No markup from retailers, no inflated prices-just quality boots at honest prices.

And the quality? It's legit. Tecovas offers beautiful, handmade western boots & accessories sold directly to you at honest prices. Each pair goes through over 200 steps of handcrafting in León, Mexico, which happens to be one of the boot-making capitals of the world. We're talking full-grain leather, traditional construction techniques, the whole nine yards.

What's really interesting is how they've evolved. Tecovas began opening brick and mortar stores in 2019, which was kind of a bold move for a company that built its reputation online. But it worked. They currently have 30+ Tecovas locations nationwide, with more on the way. Walk into one of their stores and you'll get offered a cold beer while you browse-very Texas, very on-brand.

The brand's gotten some serious recognition too. In 2024, Tecovas became the first official boot sponsor of the Stagecoach country music festival. And if you're into quirky collaborations, in 2025, Tecovas collaborated with restaurant chain Chili's to create a limited edition pair of red cowboy boots, cobbled with the same material as the booths at Chili's. I mean, you can't make this stuff up.

Notice how they've managed to stay true to Western heritage while making it accessible to everyone? That's the sweet spot they've hit. You don't need to be a rancher or live in Texas to appreciate a well-made boot. Along with cowboy boots, Tecovas also sells apparel, accessories such as hats, and other goods. They've built out a full lifestyle brand around Western wear.

The customer experience is pretty solid too. Free shipping, returns, & exchanges. And their return policy is actually reasonable-30 days, no questions asked if the boots are unworn. They even encourage you to try them on carpet so you don't scuff the soles.

What started as one guy selling boots out of the back of his SUV at farmer's markets has turned into one of the fastest-growing Western brands in the country. And honestly? They've earned it. The boots are beautiful, the prices are fair, and they've made Western wear feel fresh again without losing what made it special in the first place.
