Returns

What is the return window?
All phones (new or refurbished) purchased from Tello have a 30-day warranty. If during the first 30 days, you wish to return the phone then email our Customer Support team with the order number and the reason for return.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
The device needs to be posted back before the device warranty expires which is 30 days from the order date. The return package needs to include everything that was originally sent to you - the device, charger, any other accessories, except the SIM card. You can keep the SIM card to use it with another device. The device needs to be fully unlocked before returning and a factory reset of the device is also required.

How will I receive my refund?
We will issue a refund for the returned phone, as soon as it reaches our warehouse and it has been checked and verified for the condition. If you return the phone immediately, this process may take up to 15 business days to complete.

Who pays for return shipping?
We will send you a shipping label to return the device & accessories.

What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
The returning device must be packed safely and arrive undamaged and unscratched. Devices returned with scratches or user damage will not be refunded or replaced.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Tello Mobile-it's kind of the anti-carrier carrier, if that makes sense. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, this MVNO runs on T-Mobile's network but operates with a philosophy that feels refreshingly different from the big guys. Plans start at only $5/month with no contract and no lock-ins, which sounds almost too good to be true until you realize they're dead serious about transparency.

What really sets Tello apart is this build-your-own-plan approach. You're not stuck choosing between "good," "better," and "unlimited"-you actually pick exactly how many minutes, texts, and gigs of data you want. Need just talk and text for your kid? Done. Want unlimited everything? Plans range from $5 to $25/mo and can be customized to your heart's content. And here's where it gets interesting: you can change your plan anytime, upgrade or downgrade for free, with zero penalties. Try doing that with Verizon.

The company's owned by KeepCalling, a global telecommunications outfit that's been around since 2002, so they're not some fly-by-night operation. Tello operates as a mobile virtual network operator using the T-Mobile US mobile network, which means you're getting legitimate nationwide coverage-the same towers the big carrier uses-just without the inflated price tag. They've got around 68 employees and pulled in about $15.4 million in revenue, according to industry data.

But wait, there's more (and I promise this isn't an infomercial). Every single plan includes free calls to over 60 countries. Not "free for the first month" or "free if you pay extra"-just free. Plus, free calls to 60+ Countries with every Tello phone plan. Free tethering too, which most carriers either block or charge extra for. And their customer support? Available 24/7 with actual humans, not robots. Tello Customer Support Representatives are available 24/7, and their average email response time is under an hour.

Notice how they've managed to rack up a 4.5-out-of-5 star rating on Trustpilot with over 10,000 reviews? That's not easy in the telecom world, where everyone usually hates their carrier. The secret seems to be radical simplicity-no activation fees, no termination fees, no hidden charges, no fine print that requires a law degree to decode. At Tello, there are no contracts, no misleading promos, no fine print.

The unlimited plan deserves special mention. For $25/month, you get unlimited talk, text, and data (though they throttle after 50GB of high-speed data, which is still pretty generous). Compare that to what AT&T or Verizon charges for unlimited and you'll see why people are switching. They crossed 100,000 subscribers back in 2020, and given their recent TV advertising push, they've likely grown significantly since then.

One quirk: they're online-only, so there's no store to walk into if you prefer face-to-face help. But honestly, in 2025, who's going to a phone store anyway? You can bring your own device (as long as it's unlocked and T-Mobile compatible), or buy one from them-though their phone selection is pretty basic, mostly budget Android devices.

The whole vibe is basically "pay for what you use, nothing more, nothing less." Which sounds obvious but is somehow revolutionary in an industry built on overcharging people for stuff they don't need. Tello's betting that enough people are tired of $100+ phone bills for features they never use. And based on their growth and reviews, that bet seems to be paying off.
