So here's the thing about The Uniform Outlet - it's basically the anti-boutique scrub shop, and that's kind of the whole point. For over 20 years, they've been providing communities with affordable options for medical scrubs from brands like Spirit Scrubs, Healing Hands, Cherokee Uniforms, and more, with the goal of providing brand name scrubs at outlet prices. Think of it as the outlet mall version of medical apparel, except without the factory seconds nonsense.
What makes them different? Well, they're pretty upfront about what they're not. They don't sell irregulars, misprints, or defective scrubs - their brands and inventory arrive from the same vendors as other scrub retailers in the U.S. So you're getting the same Cherokee or Grey's Anatomy scrubs you'd find at a regular retail shop, just at better prices. And honestly, when you're buying multiple sets of scrubs because healthcare work is messy, that price difference adds up fast.
The size range is actually impressive. They carry sizes ranging from XXSM to 5X, including petites and talls, with options for everyone - even hard-to-find colors. That's not just marketing speak either - when you walk into most scrub shops, finding petite or tall options can feel like hunting for unicorns. Here, it's just part of their standard inventory.
They've grown to over 45 locations across the U.S., mostly tucked into outlet malls and premium outlet centers. Which makes sense when you think about it - healthcare workers are everywhere, and outlet malls are convenient shopping destinations. You can pop in between shifts or on your day off without making a special trip to some standalone medical uniform store.
The brand selection hits all the major players. Spirit Scrubs, Healing Hands, Med Couture, Grey's Anatomy by Barco, WonderWink, Dickies - basically the names you'd recognize if you've ever worked in healthcare or know someone who does. They also carry their own exclusive line called Sanibel Scrubs, which seems to be their budget-friendly option for people who want decent quality without the brand name markup.
But here's where it gets a bit tricky - their return policy. Items purchased in-store can be returned to any location, but all returns made in-store come in the form of store credit or exchange - they don't offer refunds for items returned in-store, only store credit or exchange. Online purchases are different - those can be returned for refunds. It's one of those policies that makes sense from a business perspective but can frustrate customers who just want their money back.
The shopping experience seems to vary by location, based on customer feedback. Some stores have incredibly helpful staff who know their products inside and out, while others... well, let's just say the experience isn't always consistent. That's pretty typical for a chain with 45+ locations though - you're going to get some variation in service quality.
They offer free shipping on orders over $99, which is reasonable if you're stocking up on scrubs for the season. And they've got that outlet mall pricing model where "outlet savings are added to your cart" - basically meaning the prices you see aren't always the prices you pay, in a good way.
One thing that stands out is their focus on healthcare workers specifically. This isn't trying to be a fashion brand or lifestyle company. It's scrubs for nurses, CNAs, dental assistants, veterinary techs - people who need functional, comfortable workwear that can handle 12-hour shifts and industrial washing machines. No pretense, no fluff, just practical clothing at practical prices.
