If the indexes are up, the earnings must be good. And they're up. At midday, the  Nasdaq is leading the pack, up 0.85%, while the S&P 500 and Dow are up 0.68% and 0.31% respectively. The Russell 2000 is down narrowly, -0.25%.

In early earnings, Novo Nordisk reported meh earnings after a management overhaul and a downgrade to its outlook. But aside from that widely expected wrong note, other showings were more exciting. Even Disney still excited investors with a new partnership announcement with the NFL.

McDonald's returned to growth, with global sales up 3.8%. Uber announced a $20 billion buyback after solid earnings and an equally solid forecast. And Shopify soared as its merchants sold $20 billion more merchandise year-over-year, with tariffs impact muted. Chipmaker Astera was the biggest mover intraday, up 28.8% after strong earnings.

This evening, after-hours earnings reports are set to include Sony, Applovin and DoorDash. They'll be joined by McKesson, Airbnb and Fortinet, among others. Their reports could take the indexes even higher.
