Stocks have been on the rise since April's tariff tiff, soaring on optimism about strong earnings and economic data, as well as hopes that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates.
That rosy outlook might be about to run into market reality.
This morning gold (+1.71%) hit a record price, surpassing $3,575 on policy anxiety. Bond yields climbed across the board, with the 30-year Treasury nearing 5%, its highest showing since July. And starting off the first trading session of the month, U.S. equities pulled back sharply.
Green Day once sang "wake me up when September ends." With so much on the docket, investors might have second thoughts about taking a nap, much less sleeping through the month.
