Returns

What is the return window?
Tini Lux accepts returns of items in their original condition within 30 days of the delivery date. Orders placed between November 15 and December 25 are returnable until January 20 of the following calendar year.

How will I receive my refund?
There is a restocking fee of $10 on all returns refunded to the original payment method. For returns refunded to store credit, the restocking fee is waived. The restocking fee covers the cost of return shipping fees and warehouse handling costs. The $10 restocking fee is waived for all Lux Loyalty members that have reached the Silver Tier or higher. The restocking fee is also waived in situations where their products caused a reaction.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Exchanges are allowed for variants only (i.e. selecting a different color of the same product). Items must be sent back within 14 days of the return submission. If items have not been mailed back in that time period, the return will be automatically voided. If returned items are damaged, scratched, or show other signs of wear the return will not be accepted and the items will be sent back to you.

Who pays for return shipping?
For US customers, a prepaid return label will be generated by the online portal. For international returns, return postage must be purchased at a local shipping carrier. Tini Lux cannot create international return labels.

What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
Tini Lux offers a one year manufacturing warranty on all of their items. If your purchase is damaged during shipping or breaks within 365 days due to a manufacturing problem they will replace it or offer a store credit. Contact [email protected] for a replacement.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Tini Lux - it's basically the answer to a problem that millions of people didn't even realize had a solution. You know how some folks can't wear most earrings without their ears turning into angry, swollen disasters? Yeah, that was founder Jackie Burke's life until 2017.

Burke wasn't some jewelry industry insider. She was a systems engineer living in Washington DC who'd given up on earrings entirely because everything - and I mean everything, even the stuff labeled "hypoallergenic" - made her ears react. But one day she got fed up scrolling Instagram, seeing cute earrings she couldn't wear, and decided to figure it out herself. What she discovered was that the jewelry industry's use of "hypoallergenic" is basically meaningless marketing speak, kind of like how "natural" on food labels doesn't really tell you much.

The breakthrough came when she learned about medical grade titanium. Less than 0.6% of people are allergic to pure titanium, making it the safest metal for the human body. And we're not talking about titanium alloys here - Tini Lux uses certified pure, medical grade titanium (ASTM F-67/F-136, if you want to get technical about it). They even lab test their products and post the results on their website, which is refreshingly transparent.

What's interesting is how Burke approached the whole thing. She started super niche - just earrings for sensitive ears - and stayed there. No branching out into bracelets or necklaces or trying to be everything to everyone. Just really, really good earrings that won't make your ears hate you. The company launched on November 30, 2017, and has since built a customer base of over 100,000 people who are probably just relieved they can finally accessorize without pain.

The products themselves are lightweight, waterproof, and safe to sleep in. People wear them in the shower, to bed, basically 24/7 without issues. And the styles aren't medical-looking or boring - they've got everything from simple studs to hoops to chain earrings that look like what you'd find at any trendy jewelry store.

Burke's kept the operation pretty lean. The team includes Jessica handling customer service, Ashlee managing the supply chain (she's got 13 years of experience), and a small marketing team. They sell primarily direct-to-consumer through their Shopify site, with about 99% of sales coming through their website and Amazon.

The pricing reflects the specialized materials and manufacturing process - these aren't fast fashion prices. But for people who've spent years unable to wear earrings at all, or who've tried dozens of "hypoallergenic" options that didn't work, Tini Lux has basically created a new category: jewelry that actually delivers on its safety promises. They even offer a one-year manufacturing warranty, which shows they stand behind the quality.

It's one of those businesses that seems obvious in hindsight but took someone with the right combination of personal frustration and determination to actually make it happen.
