Editor's Take

So here's the thing about United Vacations-it's basically United Airlines' answer to the whole "why book everything separately when you could just... not?" question. And honestly? They've kind of nailed it.

Think of it this way. You're planning a trip to Cancun or maybe Hawaii, and you're doing that exhausting dance between airline sites, hotel booking platforms, and activity vendors. United Vacations just says "stop" and bundles the whole thing together. They offer vacation package options to over 250,000 resorts in over 400 destinations with over 10,000 activities available-which is kind of insane when you think about it. That's a lot of options.

But what really sets them apart is the United Airlines connection. United Vacations is the full-service vacation brand of United Airlines®, which means they have access to the lowest prices. Not "competitive" prices or "great deals"-they're claiming the actual lowest prices on United flights. And if you're a MileagePlus member (which, let's be honest, if you fly United with any regularity, you probably are), you're earning bonus miles on top of your flight miles. It's like getting paid to vacation, kind of.

The operational side is pretty slick too. United Vacations is operated by ALG Vacations Corp., which is part of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and has been fulfilling millions of vacation dreams with unparalleled customer care for over 40 years. So you've got United's flight expertise combined with ALG's four decades of vacation packaging experience. That's not nothing.

And they're not messing around with customer support. Vacation planning assistance is available every day of the week from 8AM to 12AM EST, which covers basically any reasonable hour you'd be planning a trip. During your actual vacation, they've got 24/7 support. For many Mexico and Caribbean destinations, they have in-destination teams to help ensure that you travel safely.

One thing that's genuinely useful-their Travel Protection Plus plan. You may cancel your vacation for ANY reason up to two hours prior to scheduled departure and receive a full refund for your vacation, less the cost of the Travel Protection plan, including nonrefundable airfares. Two hours before departure. That's pretty remarkable flexibility in an industry that usually charges you $200 to breathe wrong.

The payment structure is traveler-friendly too. Full payment of your entire vacation is due 45 days prior to departure, which gives you time to budget. And they accept various payment methods including a Flex Pay monthly payment plan.

Notice how they're not just throwing random hotels at you either. They offer vacation package options to over 250,000 resorts in over 400 destinations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East. Basically, if you want to go there, they can probably get you there.

The whole thing feels less like a traditional online travel agency and more like having a really well-connected friend who works in travel. You get the convenience of booking everything in one place, the backing of a major airline, and actual human support when things go sideways. In 2025, when so much travel booking feels automated and impersonal, that's kind of refreshing.
