Blue Star Museums is a national initiative offering free admission to participating museums for the nation’s active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve. Mississippi is proud to be home to world class museums participating in the program. To discover participating museums, please visit https://www.arts.gov/initiatives/blue-star-museums. In 2025, the program begins on Armed Forces Day in May and runs through Labor Day, September 1, 2025. This program is made possible by a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across America. |

Built in 1929, the Saenger was originally a venue to show silent movies. Hattiesburg’s Saenger Theater was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, was renovated in 2000 and underwent a refurbishment in 2022. |
