Secret spot alert! Hi, I’m Paige Dyman, marketing manager at Juneberry Ridge (aka that secret spot). Sitting just an hour east of Charlotte in a town called Norwood, Juneberry Ridge is a 750-acre farm where nature can help you unwind from life, embrace the outdoors and enjoy delicious meals.
My first experience at Juneberry Ridge was truly eye-opening – it’s so much more than just a farm! Come for a weekend (and I’d recommend grabbing an iced latte from Reservoir Coffee on the way in) and see for yourself: Dine on farm-to-table meals, take in live music, forest bathe and fill your days with all the things that make your heart happiest (like the resident goats!).
Fill your heart (and mind) with Greensboro’s history
Did you know? Feb. 1 marked 65 years since four Black NC A&T State students staged a sit-in at the F.W. Woolworth’s lunch counter, a peaceful protest that helped spark the modern Civil Rights Movement. Since February is Black History Month, head to the International Civil Rights Center & Museum to learn all about the Greensboro Sit-In, then explore more of Greensboro’s (aka Jeansboro’s) denim history and Revolutionary War history.
Halifax: a small-town gem that makes a heartfelt trip
Getting to know locally owned breweries doing food for the community, making friends with some of the rarest birds on the planet and celebrating America’s 250th anniversary are just a few of the ways to fill your heart in the Halifax area.
If the way to your heart is through your stomach ...
The James Beard Award semifinalists have been announced! Here is just a sampling of the NC restaurants and chefs making waves in 2025 – and be sure to explore our past winners while you count down to dinnertime.

Outdoor adventure is a brewing this winter
North Carolina’s terrain takes on a new beauty in the winter with clear skies and unobstructed views. Whether you’re an adamant hiker or just need a change from the indoor doldrums, winter camping is a great way to get outdoors, breathe in the fresh winter air and enjoy nature. Did you know the spot you choose to pitch your tent makes a difference? Choosing a site 200 feet (or about 70 steps) from lakes and streams will minimize your impact and keep the water sources clean. Join the Movement and embrace this season’s magic while adventuring responsibly because here, stewardship and adventure come naturally.
