Free Summer Concerts!

Here at Visit Luzerne County, when we think of July, we think of the “Rockin’ the River” music series. Though we sponsor and support dozens of local events throughout the year, “Rockin’ the River” are the only events that we organize and present ourselves, and this year we’ve got some great shows on tap.

Kicking things off on July 12 will be The Unforgettable Fire: A Tribute to U2. Next up on July 19 is Winslow: An Evening of The Eagles. And our final show will feature up-and-coming country artist and social media sensation Lanie Gardner.

The shows, which take place at the Millennium Circle at River Common in Wilkes-Barre, are free and all-ages. There will also be great local opening acts, plus some tasty food and beverage vendors.

We hope to see you at Rockin’ the River 2024!

On July 5, the inaugural “Rockin’ the Mountain” music series concludes at City View Park in Hazleton with a performance by Danny V’s 52nd Street Band: A Tribute to Billy Joel. And the following night, on July 6, also at City View Park, the City of Hazleton will host its annual “Independence Day Fireworks Celebration.” In Wilkes-Barre, our country’s 248th birthday will be celebrated in Kirby Park on July 4 with the city’s annual “Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration.”

One of Luzerne County’s biggest and longest-running annual events, the fabulous Briggs Farm Blues Festival, is set for July 11, 12 and 13 in Nescopeck. Often billed as “The Best Weekend of the Year,” this long-running musical event is now in its 26th year. Car enthusiasts will fire up their engines at the legendary Giants Despair Hill Climb on July 13-14 and you can check out weekly Farmers Markets in Pittston on Tuesdays, Wilkes-Barre on Thursdays, Dallas on Saturdays, and the Wyoming Valley Mall on Fridays.

Up for some baseball? Our local boys of summer, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, are home this month at PNC Field with three homestands.

And as we head into mid-summer, don’t forget about Luzerne County’s state parks and nature trails. It’s a great time for hiking, biking, fishing, and kayaking!
