Greetings, everyone!

Here at Visit Luzerne County, we are ready to go marching into March! Are you with us? Good! Let’s go …

Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, March not only brings us warmer weather and longer days, but it also brings us three St. Patrick’s Day parades, two of which take place in Luzerne County. The first happens in the City of Pittston on March 7, and the second occurs on March 15 in the City of Wilkes-Barre and will feature giant inflatables cruising down South Main Street and around Public Square. And on March 14, just over the county line, the City of Scranton will host its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is one of the largest St. Pat’s parades in the United States. So get your green on, hit a parade, and celebrate the mighty shamrock! Erin go Bragh!

The F.M. Kirby Center has 12 events on its calendar this month, including guitar great Joe Bonamassa on March 2 and another guitar great, Warren Haynes, on March 4. (Visit Luzerne County is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of the Warren Haynes Band show.) For the kids, Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat hits the stage on March 24, and you can catch the music of the Grateful Dead with the renowned Dark Star Orchestra on March 20 and March 21. The month closes out with ‘90s rock giants Collective Soul, who’ll plug in on March 31.

At Mohegan Arena, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will hit the ice on March 4, 13, 14, 28, and 29, and Monster Jam, featuring some of the coolest trucks you’ll ever see, will tear up the mud on March 6 and 7. And, with spring in the air, you can check out the NEPA Home & Garden Show from March 20–22.

Up for some laughs? Wisecrackers Comedy Club, inside Mohegan Pennsylvania casino, offers great stand-up shows every Friday and Saturday throughout the month, and Breakers, also located inside the casino, has live music every weekend. Anime Ascend will bring a full day of pop culture fun to the casino on March 14 and will feature a cosplay competition and vendors, and if you want to hit the track, there will be 14 days of live harness racing in March. Giddy up!

Other events of interest this month include Eckley Miners’ Village’s “Charter Day” celebration on March 8, which celebrates the anniversary of William Penn’s original charter for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. There will be live music, presentations, and lectures, and tours of the village. And on March 12, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic will offer “Celtic & Bluegrass Sky” at the Kirby Center for Creative Arts in Kingston, a genre-bending evening that is sure to keep your toes tapping!
