After 18 festivals (Winooski, Portland & Detroit) in 15 wild years, it's with deep gratitude and heavy hearts that we announce that Waking Windows festivals are coming to a close after this year. While we’re stepping away from the festivals, we will still be presenting shows around town.
Like many independent festivals and events, we've faced growing financial instability in almost every aspect of what we do. The increasing demand of our personal lives and families has made us confront the hard truth about our future as well. This has always been a labor of love and we did not want it to end, but it's the current reality we are facing. This decision was not made lightly.
We literally could not have done it without our amazing community and supporters. We never took it for granted and we know how lucky we are to be able to do what we love for so long. The bond we've shared, the magic we've created, the collaborations, the moments of joy and discovery, and the friendships we've built will stay with us forever. To every performer, artist, fan, venue, sponsor, staff member, volunteer and human who poured their heart into this journey, we thank you; you helped create something rare and beautiful.
But before we close this chapter, we want to celebrate with all of you who've made these years so special. If you're able, please buy your ticket before May 1st. Your support directly helps us, the artists, and everyone working hard to make this final celebration as unforgettable as possible. We know times are tough but if we don't keep showing up for the things we love, they'll continue to disappear.
Let’s go for one more round of hugs and high fives around the rotary! Only 14 more sleeps!
