Returns

What is the return window?
Wolaco gladly accepts returns or exchanges of unworn items with tags attached within 30 days of receiving your order. Returned orders will incur an $8 restocking fee deducted from the refunded amount, though exchanged items do not incur a restocking fee.

Are there any items that are non-returnable?
All returns/exchanges must be received back in their original condition. Items that have been worn, have stains, dust, dirt, odors/smells, deodorant, pet hair, have been washed, etc are unable to be accepted and will not be refunded. All items in the Mystery Sale are final sale - no returns or exchanges.

How will I receive my refund?

Who pays for return shipping?
Wolaco offers complimentary pre-paid labels for easy returns and exchanges within the U.S. They currently do not offer pre-paid labels for international returns or exchanges.

What if I received a damaged or incorrect item?
If you have received an item that has visible damage upon arrival, please take a picture and send to [email protected] to request a new item or refund.

Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Wolaco - they basically solved a problem every runner has dealt with at some point. You know that annoying moment when your phone's bouncing around in your pocket during a run, or worse, you've got your key shoved in your sock like some kind of amateur? Yeah, that's exactly what founder Terry White was dealing with one evening while running through Manhattan streets. And instead of just accepting it as part of the deal, he actually did something about it.

The brand - which stands for Way of Life Athletic Company - is New York City's active apparel brand, producing compression shorts with phone pockets, biker shorts with phone pockets, and running compression pants with phone pockets. But it's not just about pockets. The whole philosophy is kind of refreshing in a market saturated with flashy logos and over-the-top marketing. They're intentional about what they make, focusing on essentials rather than churning out endless variations of the same thing.

What's interesting is their approach to design. All of their compressions are compatible with every generation of iPhone, even the iPhone 14 Max, with media pockets measuring 6.6" height x 3.6" width that stretch. That's the kind of specific, practical thinking that separates functional gear from stuff that just looks good in photos. And they've got this sweat-proof pocketing system that's actually patented - not just water-resistant fabric, but genuinely engineered to keep your stuff dry.

The product line isn't massive, and that's intentional. They've got their North Moore Shorts, Distance Half Tights, Sprint Half Tights, and some tops and hoodies. Each piece is designed with performance fabrics sourced from around the world, built for comfort and durability. The compression gear provides moderate compression for all-day wear, not just intense workouts. It's the kind of stuff you can throw on for a morning run and keep wearing through errands without feeling like you're still in full workout mode.

They launched with a Kickstarter campaign where they exceeded their fundraising goal by 400% - which tells you people were genuinely excited about what they were offering. Since then, they've built a loyal community (they call it the WOLAFAM) and even experimented with a temporary retail space in the Lower East Side, though they're primarily a direct-to-consumer online brand.

The pricing sits in that premium-but-not-luxury range. You're paying more than you would for generic athletic wear, but you're getting thoughtfully designed gear with features that actually matter when you're active. And honestly? Sometimes paying a bit more for something that works exactly how you need it to is worth skipping the cheaper alternatives that'll frustrate you every time you use them.
