What is the return window?
Returns are allowed within 30 days from the purchase (shipment) date and exchanges within 60 days of the purchase (shipment) date for jewelry, and within 30 days from the purchase (shipping date for online orders) date for watches.
Do I need a receipt to return an item?
Online purchase: Returns to the store or through mail must include the original packing slip with the item. If you no longer have the packing slip, bring a copy of your ship confirmation email or online purchase receipt displayed during checkout can be substituted.
Are there any items that are non-returnable?
Returns and exchanges are not allowed on special ordered watches, gift cards, ear piercing earrings, custom designs and protection plan replacement merchandise. Merchandise purchased using Progressive Leasing cannot be exchanged.
How will I receive my refund?
All refunds are credited to the same tender as the original purchase. Processing time for refunds is approximately five (5) business days from the date of the return. The refund will be generated at the time the return is processed, but the timeframe for it to reflect as a credit on your card is dependent on your individual financial institution. However, most are reflected in 5-7 Business Days.
Can I return online purchases in-store?
If you purchased your item online, you can return your item to any Zales or Zales Outlet store. If there is no store near you, you may return the item by mail.

Here's the thing about Zales-it's been around since 1924, which basically means your great-grandparents might've bought their wedding bands there. And honestly? That kind of staying power says something.
What's interesting is how they've managed to stay relevant. They're not just sitting there being "America's diamond store" (their actual tagline, by the way). They've got over 400 locations scattered across malls and shopping centers, but they're also leaning hard into the online thing now. You can literally design your own engagement ring on their website, which feels very 2025.
The selection is... extensive. We're talking engagement rings, wedding bands, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, watches-pretty much if it sparkles, they've got it. They carry both natural and lab-grown diamonds now, which is smart because lab-grown stones have gotten really popular with younger buyers who want the look without the environmental guilt (or the price tag).
But here's where it gets practical. Zales offers this Vault Rewards program where you earn points on purchases. You get free jewelry cleaning and inspections anytime, which is actually useful if you're someone who wears jewelry daily. They've also got financing options-the old "a penny down and a dollar a week" model has evolved into modern payment plans through Affirm and their own credit card.
The return policy is pretty standard: 30 days for returns, 60 days for jewelry exchanges. Nothing groundbreaking, but not terrible either. And they've got this Lifetime Diamond Commitment thing where you can trade in diamond jewelry you bought from them toward something new, as long as the new piece is at least double the value. Kind of like upgrading your phone, but shinier.
One thing that stands out-they're really pushing this "everyday jewelry" angle now. Not just for engagements or anniversaries, but like, "you got promoted, buy yourself something nice" vibes. Their recent campaigns feature younger, fashion-forward people wearing jewelry casually, which feels like a deliberate shift from the traditional "special occasion only" jewelry marketing.
The prices range wildly. You can find stuff under $100 in their clearance section, or you can drop thousands on a custom engagement ring. They run sales pretty frequently-Black Friday, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day-sometimes up to 50% off.
So basically, Zales is that reliable middle-ground option. Not the fanciest, not the cheapest, but they've been doing this for a century and they're still here. That counts for something.
